Well it is time for a recap. With the loss of all the defensive players recently there was a eerie feeling going into this weekends game for sure. With trades and injuries we were down D-men, and McBrien getting hurt on Thursday nights game didn't help matters. Well low and behold a funny thing happened, we picked up a couple new guys and things worked out.
Dean Moore, as I have been told, just turned pro but he seems to be a good fit on this team. He is very talented, hard working, and seems to give it his all every shift that gave him a +2 points for the game.
Now on to the newest guy, Clark Kent....oh I mean Erik Kent...lol. This guy nearly nailed a hat trick on his debut appearance in Blackham. He also tallied up +2 points and the most shots (6) for the night. This is the type of player we have been in need of, and he has donated on the offensive side of things. He had 34 goals / 36 assists in 46 games last season, and those are numbers we need. MacIsaac coached him last season with the Mad Hatters, and I am glad that he was able to get him here.
All the players have seemed to step up their game on the ice, as I am now starting to now what to expect from them. It has taken this franchise 28 games to get to this point, and it has been a very bumpy road indeed. We are now at the halfway point of the season, and I for one hope they can continue this type of energy for the second half. It's not all about wins and losses but about watching a good game, and that is exactly what we got to see the last three nights in Blackham.
Danny says to expect more entertainment when they return in February, and that is what I like to hear. Saturday nights game had good attendance, great atmosphere, and a noisy bunch of fans. Made you walk out of there with the type of pride you should have leaving an Icegators game. Again giving the fans the opportunity to skate with the team was great, kudo to you again Danny. Although I forgot to bring a sharpie so my son wasn't able to get his jersey signed, what a terrible dad I am.
