All was going fine for the UL baseball team. Until, that is, the top of the eighth.

Poor performance.
That's baseball ... and the reason they don't play a 12 game schedule.
We Are Without Deggs!! Giving up outs early in the game because of bunting, there is a time and place for the bunt which is the most unsuccessful play in the game. Running ourselves out of innings, take sign on first pitch strike now you are down in the count, leaving pitchers on the mound too long, never having someone warm in the pen when you need it. Playing musical chairs with your line-up and not having a set starting team , some of these players have not had enough consecutive games to get in a groove, leaving hitters in the line-up that are batting under 200 or have not had a hit in 30 at bats when you have a 3 or 4 of these in the lineup timely hitting becomes a problem. These are just a few of the problems with the loss ratio of close games. These things in a baseball game account for runs either not scored or scored by the opposition.
Solid analysis Trout.
