Thread: LSU effect on UL recruiting

    Endurance Training Re: LSU

Not sure if you guys seen the Forbes magazine article last month but, it broke down the 20 highest revenue football programs and LSU was 7th this year after finishing 6th the previous season. LSU netted $39 million...the gap between haves and have nots will only continue. Interesting read...

In addition to what Turbine mentioned:

    Water Skiing
    Trampoline

Close brushes in Basketball (Lamar era), Softball and Baseball, as well. All achieved a national ranking of #4 or higher at some point during a season..

What I'd give to have just some of that basketball excitement back!

9-4 and top 25 finish > 6-6 and no bowl

I'm not sure where UL has made up much ground? It's not even close when it comes to facilities, exposure, etc. LSU's on track to haul in another top 10 class in 2010 and are off to dynamite start for 2011 class.

Look, nobody is comparing UL and a&m@br... we are not even in the same Zip Code... literally and figuratively... My point s that all of the smack coming out of the Mistake on the Ms River is that they have been elevated to elite status on par with the Bama's, Texas' and So Cal's... They were there for a decade... But when one compares them to the elite programs.... not the UL's... their run is over.... they will be top 15 forever... in the landscape of college football today and with their schedule guaranteeing 6 wins before they even kickoff... its hard to imagine them not being top 15... but again truely objective projections... they are not in the discussion for NC runs...

On track for another great recruiting year??? sure... but Bama and Florida and Georgia and Tennessee are also... And each are miles (pun intended) ahead in on field coaching... 9-4 seems right each year with 8-5 and 10-3 mixed in from time to time

You are right; I should take my own advice and ignore you. However, you like to make note of LSU supporters who are minding UL’s business. Yet, you have a screen name that is intended to get a rise out of LSU people in addition the your continuous juvenile insults. You know exactly what you are doing. It’s kind of like the little punk down the street who wants respect from the older, bigger kids so he continuously kicks them in their shins until they become more than a nuisance. Why don’t you grow up?

What does any of this have to do with the orginal topic of this thread? I just don't see how 2009 will bring UL_Lafayette any closer to LSU as far as recruiting is concerned. Historically speaking, LSU will never be on the same level as Alabama, USC, Texas, etc. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that LSU boasts a very good program from a historical perspective. Since my birthdate in 1980, both Bama and UT have been credited with one national championship. Ole Miss was a power back in the 50's and 60's but that doesn't have much relevance today. Notre Dame's history is incredibley rich and when is the last time they were relevant? With Les Miles at the helm, you are probably spot on about LSU not challenging for a national title. However, two more years similar to what we witnessed this season and last and Les will be shown the door. LSU obviously has plenty of money to bring in a top flight coach. Not to mention the job is very attractive when you consider top rate facilities and a fertile recruiting state with no significant in-state competition. Bertman went for the cheap hire with Miles and I doubt Alleva will make that same mistake when the time comes.

LSU's program from an all-time perspective:

    All-time wins- 12th NCAA
    All-time winning pct.- 13th NCAA
    Bowl game appearances- 9th NCAA
    Bowl game wins- 10th NCAA

There are plenty of BCS programs that would love to have these credentials.

Will all you LSU ruh-tards go back to your own boards please? The original question asked was legitimate and posed for good conversation before you came in and started "putting us in our place". LSU having a down season or two could very well hurt their national recruiting and therefore they would have to go local to fill some of the voids. That would take away from our recruiting as 99% of our recruiting is from the gulf coast. There was no comparison of LSU to UL. You guys need to worry more about your terrible game managing coach who flat out LIES about everything resembling a lack of coaching ability on his part.

    Paraphrasing as best I can:

"I did not tell him to spike the ball" while video shows him running down the sideline motioning to spike the ball

"He was helping the Penn State player up" when his player grabbed him with two hands and threw him to the side

If I'm not mistaken, LSU was 7 - 5 last year and 9 - 3 this year. Where I went to school that is improvement.

As funny as the two stooges (Miles and Crowton) are, they will have a top ten recruiting class this year and a top 3 (probably number 1) class the next year. So, we will still have top 1 - 15 teams in the next several years. Yes, even with Miles the Clown as Coach.

As for Saban, after our National Championship year with him, he went 8 - 5, so he is not God - although he really thinks he is. Alabama was a top 5 team the year before Saban arrived. They had talent.

You will see after Alabama wins the Title this year, Alabama will drop back some. Saban will head to Penn State and probably win the National Title over there in 3 years. But, Alabama will always be Alabama and will win a National Title later on when Saban is not the Coach. _

Saban will lose to Texas and Alabama still will not have a National Title since Bear Bryant.

Something strange happens to people when they move west past the Sabine River. Not only will Alabama win, but it will be the second National Title since the Bear.

That's what they said about USC in 2006. The greatest team in college football history. Beating Texas would be a breeze. Guess what happened? Alabama is not invincible. Texas will rule. Of course, that is wishful thinking on my part. I have no love for the SEC.

This is exactly what I have been saying... While a&m@br had a nice run in the top tier, their program is a 10-15 level program.... not the elite that they try to place themselves....

    Thanks for quantifying my point
