Thread: LSU effect on UL recruiting

Right now I would love for UL to be middle of the pack. I'd even love for them to get a single top 25 vote. I would love for them to get one bowl bid.

We spend too much time worring about the people 55 miles to the east. When we start to worry more about our own house than their house we may start to get our programs in order.

I respect LSU for national championships in several sports. Perhaps one day soon we will have one of our own, and then we can sit down with our Louisiana State friends and talk about how great it is to have a national championship trophy in our case. Until then, let's let LSU be LSU, and UL be UL, and hope that someday we may have the chance to meet them on the field in a national championship game in any sport -- now that would be cool!

I don't have any problem with Nick and I think most reasonable LSU fans are the same. Would I rather he not be in the SEC...sure...so what. Wouldn't most of you guys rather not have to climb the Troy hill each year?

Thing with Bama is they will be good more years than not whether or not Nick is there. It's not like Bama never won before Nick's arrival and if he retires at Bama, so be it. That's not his history, but who knows.

With all due respect to you and the Florida guys, but the SEC has not been ruled by one coach/school since the Bear departed and I see nothing to denote that trend will change.

Good luck to you guys next season!

Ya'll need to find the guy who gave you that OOC schedule for 10 and fire him or talk some sense into him.

Ihatestate, you are right. Saban is a much better coach than Miles. However, name one BCS Coach that isn't better than Miles.

Mark my words, unless Paterno retires in this offseason, Saban will be the next Coach at Penn State. Before he came to LSU, his dream college job(s) were 1) Notre Dame and 2) Penn State. Not, LSU or Alabama. He will go there (Penn State) and be more successful than he was at LSU or Alabama.

Sure, he wanted to go to the Pro ranks because his ego told him he's the best Coach on Earth. See how that worked out?

Saban didn't like it at LSU and he doesn't like it at Alabama. He hates being criticized (remember LSU losing to UAB - he blamed it on Josh Booty) and thinks he is above everyone in the South.

Some people wouldn't believe the player revolt that was about to happen at LSU after his National Championship year. He couldn't believe that he wasn't going to win the National Championship again and started blaming players for losing. Same thing will happen at Alabama next year.

Has UL never won a national championship in ANY sport?

Not sure if you guys seen the Forbes magazine article last month but, it broke down the 20 highest revenue football programs and LSU was 7th this year after finishing 6th the previous season. LSU netted $39 million...the gap between haves and have nots will only continue. Interesting read...

In addition to what Turbine mentioned:

    Water Skiing
    Trampoline

Close brushes in Basketball (Lamar era), Softball and Baseball, as well. All achieved a national ranking of #4 or higher at some point during a season..

What I'd give to have just some of that basketball excitement back!

9-4 and top 25 finish > 6-6 and no bowl

I'm not sure where UL has made up much ground? It's not even close when it comes to facilities, exposure, etc. LSU's on track to haul in another top 10 class in 2010 and are off to dynamite start for 2011 class.

Look, nobody is comparing UL and a&m@br... we are not even in the same Zip Code... literally and figuratively... My point s that all of the smack coming out of the Mistake on the Ms River is that they have been elevated to elite status on par with the Bama's, Texas' and So Cal's... They were there for a decade... But when one compares them to the elite programs.... not the UL's... their run is over.... they will be top 15 forever... in the landscape of college football today and with their schedule guaranteeing 6 wins before they even kickoff... its hard to imagine them not being top 15... but again truely objective projections... they are not in the discussion for NC runs...

On track for another great recruiting year??? sure... but Bama and Florida and Georgia and Tennessee are also... And each are miles (pun intended) ahead in on field coaching... 9-4 seems right each year with 8-5 and 10-3 mixed in from time to time

You are right; I should take my own advice and ignore you. However, you like to make note of LSU supporters who are minding UL’s business. Yet, you have a screen name that is intended to get a rise out of LSU people in addition the your continuous juvenile insults. You know exactly what you are doing. It’s kind of like the little punk down the street who wants respect from the older, bigger kids so he continuously kicks them in their shins until they become more than a nuisance. Why don’t you grow up?
