I don't know why. Texas is not to blame cause they care of business and been very fortunate. Schools that do well do so cause of their own effort mixed with some good luck along the way.
It's kinda like me if I would hate Brad Pitt. He is where he is cause of his effort and I'm where I am cause of mine. Dang, now I'm depressed!
BTW and not to you, but I know a number of LSU fans pulling for Bama including myself. I respect both Bama and Texas for the rich traditions of their football programs and both have outstanding coaches. imo
I don't think that LSU has too much effect on UL. UL does not get the caliber of recruit that LSU does, period! We have to rely on finding the diamonds in the ruff. Every now and again something crazy happens though. Like this year I hear UL might get Houston Bates DE that has already accepted an offer to LSU. I hear he will be coming to UL.
I am glad that LSU gets the best players in the State though. This means most of our good players stay in the state.
I would be shocked if Houston Bates decommits from LSU and choses UL. Not disappointed just shocked, chances are he would most likely immediately start for the Cajuns as a Freshman or be listed on the two deep. We are talking about a kid that is the 71st best DE in the country according to Rivals and a DE that runs a 4.7 forty and is a sack machine.
Why hate UT? Because they are one of the the top athletic and academic schools in the country? Because they understood years ago the value of athletics to a university and in building a powerful alumni base? Because they have an endowment of well over a billion dollars? Because they don't object to other universities in Texas excelling on their own and didn't object to SWT changing their name to Texas State University? Because they do EVERYTHING about as first class as can be done? Becasue their alumni fully support the university and they have major, major donors who give millions annually? Because their AD said he expects EVERY athletic team at UT to compete for a National Championship? Because they generate millions in revenue from the sale of apparel, season tickets, conference revenue and tv appearances, plus BCS bowl revenue? UT doesn't put down any university in Texas to make them better. UT doesn't demand to be THE ONLY Flagship in Texas. UT supports excellence at every level to the betterment of higher education and the state of Texas. UT is THE model, both academically and athletically, for any public university to emulate.
Hey, I am glad you like them. I will not even dispute what you have said. I just got tired of listening to myopic longhorn fans the 3 years I lived in Houston. I still travel to Houston and love listening to Longhorn fans complain about the paradise they have to live in.
