Thread: RB Williams looking like UL's next big threat

  1. Default RB Williams looking like UL's next big threat

UL coach Mark Hudspeth watches Walter Williams hit a hole, burst through and leave would-be tacklers in his wake.

Then Hudspeth watches Williams fail to pounce on a botched pitch, like in a recent spring practice, or cough up the ball after getting popped, as happened in the Ragin’ Cajuns’ annual spring game last weekend.

That's a touch call. Do you redshirt him because 1. Fumble-prone 2. Inexperience 3. Depth at RB. Or......think he will be ready and be the best 1,2 punch with the prophet.

I think you plan to red-shirt him and the incoming freshman unless you have to use them. I think the coaches have enough returning backs to back up Elijah.

Sounds like he's pretty adamant about not wanting to redshirt. Wonder how he would handle that if the coaches choose that route.

Sounds like Hud laid it out pretty clearly what he needs to do in order to not redshirt, sounds like williams clearly understands what he needs to do. He also sounds like a smart and well rounded mature kid... I don't think he will red shirt.... If he does happen to red shirt, he will know why. Once he learns his plays and is thinking less, I predict those fumbles will decrease.

---That run of his in the Spring game was Harris like but I thought the best run was by Davis up his left sidelines----The guy can scoot!!!

If that's the team's decision, I would want him to keep his mouth shut and work. If he is needed due to injuries, then it would look better for him as a 'team player'. But, last time I checked I wasn't the head coach of a football team...

Sounds like you have it under control and no need to have conversations on a message board site. Because no kids ever disagree with their coaches assessments on playing time.
