Thread: The Most Overlooked UL Softball Team Of The Decade

  1. UL Softball The Most Overlooked UL Softball Team Of The Decade

When it comes to picking the best UL Ragin’ Cajun softball team of the decade 2000-2009, most people would limit the selection to two teams.

Some would make the argument for the 2003 team, which became the first UL softball team to advance to the Women’s College World Series since 1996, and the first to make it to the WCWS under the direction of Michael and Stefni Lotief.

Others would argue that the 2008 squad was better, if for no other reason, that they won a game in the WCWS, defeating the top-seeded Florida Gators.

Those two teams jump right to the top of most people’s minds, and while the fact that they made it to the WCWS makes them both special groups, it’s not like the rest of the decade went without accomplishments.

I'm with you, Stevie P, the 2004 team was the BEST! It had everything but a little luck. The team recalled how difficult it was playing in the heat of Arizona. Hillary Guidry said she was coughing up blood because of the heat searing her throat when she ran. The girls were all fighters! I am so glad you picked them as your Team of the Decade. They were. They kept Arizona home from the WCWS. Wow, that, in itself, was amazing!

A sixty win season is very special, very special and it doesn't happen often. Their record was 60-8. To only lose eight games in a season is a great accomplishment.
