I also support Josh on this one. And I enjoy Jay's show except when tough questions come about UL and then he is ready to change the subject. I mostly listen to Jay's show to get information about UL athletics.

IF with the term "having an agenda" Jay meant lack of access to do his job and report was a pet peeve of Josh's then I have no problem with what Jay might have said.

I did not hear the show today, nor any day for the past month. I no longer choose to listen to KPEL. Why? Because there is no doubt that in a caller driven market you have to "stir the pot" and then when the pot has been stirred you need to control the callers in a manner that keeps your show going strong. This happens on every show on KPEL except Billy Rickman's show, and it doesn't happen there because Billy appearantly does his show "just for fun". Is there anything wrong with a talk show having an agenda? NO! Without his agenda he would have no show.

Jay knows where all the UL bodies are buried and if he wanted to cause some controversy there is nobody, I said NOBODY, who could bring about more media mess than Jay. He does not do so because he knows it would be wrong. He controls the information that he chooses to distribute to the listeners of his show. Walker probably knows enough scoop on every coach at UL that he could ruin any of them. He does not do that because he is not that kind of person.

Josh Parrot writes and reports news. When a reporter starts to have an agenda it is usually the beginning of the end of that person's career in a specific market. Parrot only reported the facts the other day when Lee had his temper tantrum.

Parrot's column today was in the form of an editorial. It was not intended to be reporting new news, but intended to set the tone and expectations for what is going to happen tonight. He had every right to write an editorial BEFORE the game. His pregame editorial was to peak interest in what he might report after the game.

If after the game he talks about "old news" then you can say he has an agenda. Let's all read what he says tonight, and see if what he write after the game is a new article or an editorial. If it is an editorial then Walker and others have the right to complain. He reports the news then all they can say is that he did his job.

Josh has done a remarkable job as the Cajun athletic beat reporter. Its quite refreshing to see actual "reporting", good OR bad. That's his job and he does it quite well.

Jay, on the other hand, is employed by a media company contracted by the university to, not only provide game coverage of Cajun athletics in a promotional sense, but to also host coach's shows, etc.. So how about giving him some slack as one right square in the middle.

There's a fine balance that must be maintained there. If Jay goes on Bird's Eye View and opines the way most of us would likely do, he'd be looking for a job!

    Apples to oranges.

As to this great debate, Jay (on his show) opined that there was some "history" between Josh and Robert. Well? What do you want him to say further than that? Maybe he should have just kept his opinion to himself and told the caller, "no comment".

How fun would THAT be for us??

He meant that JP is out to get Robert Lee. Which to me sounds like 'you embarrassed my friend by doing your job and calling him out, so now i'll use my platform to take up for said friend.' I mean, the guy knew how many calls were exchanged between josh and lee the night of for cryin out loud. He dam sure didn't get that info from Josh.

You don't accuse a guy of having it out for another person without hard evidence. Questioning his choice of things to report is absurd.

Agreed. If fact, I had a major issue with Jay just throwing out his opinion that Rush Limbaugh is a "hater", then refusing to discuss the matter further. ____ed me off to no end.

My point was more toward the contractual difference. He, Scott and Steve are employed by a company contracted by the university, while Josh isn't.

No. I was just wondering about that...otherwise Jay is an asset to the University of Louisiana.

Thus proving who really has the agenda. But anyway, your point is well taken.

It is never a good idea for your play-by-play man to be the public liason for an athletic department.
