I would have gone but got in from San Antonio last night just in time to catch the game on TV. I thought we played very well overall. We obviously would have loved the win... but we competed until the end. LSU has a very very strong team. We did well.
As for fans, I wasn't that surprised that we didn't have a huge turnout. The Wally Pontiff Classic is a big LSU event - and should be (and many of our fans aren't real fired up about the way many LSU fans look down their noses at us specifically) and it's a tough trip to go and return to Lafayette on a week night. I didn't see too many people in white. I saw P&G with some red sprinkled in on TV.
We played them hard and it was obvious by the LSU team body language that they were also putting forth maximum effort to win it.
I'd like to ask a dumb question: I'd thought we'd be seeing a lot more of Jam Williams. Kid can run. Did I miss a reason .... other than he's just too green?
They're trying to settle on the 9 everyday starters now, so his opportunities like most freshmen field players that come in, will be in situations for the most part.
He's still a football guy that they're bringing along. I dont know how much more you expected to see him. He's shown where he is best used at this point in time, in situations and some midweek starts.
Keep in mind, we pushed a few midweeks back already, so those opportunities will come. We've only played 6 midweek games, including last night, over a month and a half. We have 7 of them in just the next 4 weeks.
I have little (some, but not as much) problem with someone wearing white for a home contest, but road? No!!!
You are there to support the Cajuns, so come out and say it!
And I did wear white for that game to pay homage to the red dots. I felt out of place with everyone wearing red.
Who fn cares what their reaction was. Even when they are trying to be friendly, they are looking down their noses. The guy behind me had a flat bill turned sideways, wife-beater, and prison ink on his face and neck and was full of uninformed, uneducated opinion of us all night long.
It's a good event, and I really liked the venue.....but as usual, the LSU fans left a bad taste in my mouth.
