I know we have to look at all of these recruiting rankings with a grain of salt but according to Rivals, it seems that the other SBC schools like Troy, MTSU, NT are all having very nice recruiting seasons thus far. Almost every one of Troy's commitments seems to be a JUCO guy and North Texas has surprised me with the rankings of several of their guys. We had better get a move on. Granted, they only have us with 3 commitments when we have 8 or 9 at this point so I'd like to see them update our status to see how we rank but I'm impressed with some of these other teams.

According to the North Texas beat reporter, UNT picked up some solid junior college guys but probably took a few too many DBs. Troy and Middle Tennessee should be strong again because of on-field success.

Maybe some of you can tell me about the following players that are not listed on the original posts link.

Jesse Proctor and Andrew Simar from TCHS, Taylor Bullock of CHNI, and Cooper Gerami from STM.

Proctor might get more notice on the baseball field, but he plays with an amazing amount of heart on both offense and defense. Simar is small by college standards, but he runs low to the ground with great power and was very hard to bring down. Gerami was one of the better defensive backs I saw all season, and I watched a total of 16 different teams. I think that one of the best athletes I watched all year was Bullock out of Catholic High. I'm not sure if he can be a college QB, but he is a great athlete and is pretty big for a high school player.

I want the cajuns to win, but I'd also like to see some of our local players "get a shot". I'm not saying I want an all local team, just that these are some young men that I watched play this year that appear to be nice players.

Speaking of Proctor, he had an older brother that was a very nice player. What happened to him?

Cooper Gerami graduated last year and redshirted at Northwestern (Ill.) this past season.

Exactly!!! I want our coaching staff to go out there and find the BEST players that they can sign... period! If those players are local, that is even better, but we can't keep wanting to get better, then decide to hamstring our staff by saying they must all be local.

My own son tried out for Coach Robe, but wasn't good enough. If he had been chosen, we might not have been as good as we otherwise could have been. I renewed my three season tickets and moved on.

    Go Cajuns!
