Starting QB position still open after spring game

I would say more of a philosophy issue... Same coaches coached those last 6 quarters also.

The nouns (coaches) were the same. The verb (coaching) was not. Regardless, it validated that we had the personnel (and we did all along). I'm still not clear what role Matt W had on the program last year. But nevertheless... our defensive philosophy sucked... and we had a bunch of knuckleheads on here defending it... what a complete joke... and once we did as VO described... we dominated the opposition's offense. It kind of ____es me off to think that we allowed Tech the free pass last year. But that's ok. I'm putting it behind me. Hud and staff have the ability to employ much smarter schemes with a great cache of athletes this season.

Totally agree. So glad we got a whole new defensive coaching staff. This one appears much more aggressive.

And they are veterans that know what works and how to coach it. It's also going to help prepare our offense going into the season. I still believe that we were hampered against Tech and Ole Miss by believing we had a powerful offense... because it looked good against our defense... in practice... and we thought we could take that to Tech and Ole Miss.

If our defense plays tight on our offense in practice... it makes our offense figure out what it takes to play a better defense on Saturday. Our receivers will learn to create gaps with proper technique (unlike any did last year), it will help our OL see what true blocking is required in both run and pass blocking sets. And it tests what QB truly has the quick cap on... in practice. Our improved defense will help prepare our offense for better opponents.

Ask TXST coaches if we out athlete them, ask your boys at stAte if we don't? The ones you say we don't... That Broadway told them 7 times in a row what play we were running and they still couldnt stop it. Why has georgia state been close the last 2 years against a team with better athletes? Because they didn't try to go toe to toe, they stretched the field, they spread us out, they got their guys away from ours.... If we want to beat teams that we aren't superior to in size, strength and speed we have to do the same. Having Nixon back there is trying to out athlete people.. Which works for the majority of the sunbelt. I don't know how much clearer I can be about that, you are the one trying to argue something that isn't there. I'm the one who said out athlete, so I'm not inserting myself into ___.. You are.

We have had the athletes to win the conference since '06. HUD has been ultra conservative on defense because our DLine was our only plus position with the exception of his first year here.

Our games have been close by design and game planning. If we truly open up the offense and treat every snap like Baylor does we could put up 40+ points per game. We will have the best RB, WR and QB in the Sun Belt this year.

If we play more press coverage and disrupt the timing of some QBs we will win 10 games.

CC made a simple and inaccurate statement implying that we have superior athletes to every team in the league and that is not the case. We are near the top in talent levels, and in many positions we are superior, but to suggest that we have some sort of dominance over the other teams in nieve. We compete against a lot of SBC teams for recruits. We win some and lose some. I think a bigger distinction should be made to what happens to the athletes we receive once they are here and in Whitt's program. To me that is the bigger justification.

Name me three players we wanted that went to other SBC teams in 2013 and 2014. Not players who we simply courted, but only those we were in hot persist of that ended up at ULM? Or for that matter stAte, TxSt, USA, Troy, and the three on the Atlantic coast.

I follow the Cajun Red Zone for my recruiting information and I do not recall any such players much less three. To be fair, I do not recall these guys for the most part that do not sign with us, I just do not recall a situation where it was between us vs any other SBC team that we did not get unless we passed them on first.
