First I don't need a dictionary, my comments were based on the jist of the post that the problem was coaching. Everyone is entitled to theories opinion but not there own fact. Don't intend to be argumentative, but I've been a fan and supporter for a long, long time and these past few years have been a lot of fun, and a great time to be a Cajun fan, and notwithstanding most post here I appreciate and respect all involved for the success
I don't understand the insult. Toothpick is an answer to nothing. And the comments don't mean that Hud and his staff (new ones) are incapable of doing better. Hud has injected massive energy and enthusiasm into preparation, and he's created an unparalleled strength and conditioning system like none before him. His PR capabilities have incrementally improved our recruiting. I also think he's created discipline, leading to really solid execution. It's simply too limited to beat equal to better teams. We will not beat Tech or Kentucky with our past defensive philosophy. I also believe... and don't know why anyone would argue it... that our QB has got to be capable of tossing the ball to short, middle and deep in order to seriously take every SBC... but especially even a better defense... out of our backfield and out of Elijah's grill this coming year. Again... we kick butt against weak programs. We need to coach not to beat weak programs... but to take out the better teams on the schedule. The weak will fall either way... we have better athletes.
I've watched every game for over 4 decades... and have massively enjoyed what Hud has done. I don't think talking up our athletes does anything but credit Hud. But where we've fallen short... it's been coaching decisions defensively (big time)... and a very methodical, predictable offense... that won't beat really good programs. That isn't slamming our coaches. They have every opportunity (and the ability) to rectify those past deficiencies. I'm confident they will.
Geaux Cajuns!
PS...I love our current staff and think they have done and are doing an excellent job. They will play more aggressively this season due to changes in the defensive coaching staff and some serious depth on the back end.
Offensively, once we lost Jamal R. last season, we had a hard time finding offense beyond Elijah. TB struggled finding another "favorite" receiver and with accuracy and arm strength, all of which limited options on offense. I see Haack spreading the field and forcing defenses to pick their poison. Should be interesting!
We get run on too. We are nowhere near a top of the SBC defense. How is that outmanning anybody? By your assessment, Ga Southern must have the best athletes in the conference since nobody can stop their running game either. The original poster said "out-athlete" which we all know is not even a word. We don't out-athlete anybody across the board. We have some very good athletes at many positions but we are not heads and tails above most SBC schools. Its a simple argument that you are turning into something it shouldn't be. I don't even know where Haack comes in to play in this entire argument....
