Hunter Stover commits to Cajuns

Wade Richey (Carencro superstar kicker) went to LSU and they messed with his mechanics and screwed him up. He couldn't kick a KO without it going out of bounds and he was shakey on 30 yard FG attempts. He finally ignored his LSU kicking instructor, who insisted he completely modify his kicking style, and made a long career in the NFL. Old school football kicking instructors weren't ready for soccer style kickers. If a guy can kick the ball into the endzone coming out of highschool... you let him show you how the ball gets kicked.

_ I don't know if putting on more size will make him kick the ball any better, but if he has the genetics of the Stover men in him, he will get much bigger than 200 lbs before his UL days are over. He's probably more likely to put on 30 to 40 lbs under our strength and conditioning program over the next 2 years. Again, if the Stover DNA has anything to say about it. _

If you have the same speed and whip into the ball an added weight/mass will send the ball further---now what is the formula Mass x velocity = ????? Happy days are here again---btw I was thinking that hopefully on each ko we will have a one-sixth to one-fifth of the field advantage when starting on defense as compared to former years---think 1-2 first downs that they will have to make to get to where they are starting from now!!!!! the next trick is to stop touchbacks when we punt from the 30 - 50 yard lines---I love to quick kick out of the shotgun on a 4th and short situation!!!!!!!

If he does not speed up his approach to the ball before the kick on field goals he will get that ball blocked everytime. Now I totally agree you don't mess to much with him on kickoffs but I am sure there are a few things that can be done to help him gain even more distance. In high school he worked maybe one day a week on kicking.

Stover is a good humble young man who hails from a very good family. Watching him play at Notre Dame for the past 2 years has been an absolute pleasure as you can always count on him to make big plays as a selfless team player. He is a hard nosed player who knows how to win and how hard you have to work to play for a winning/championship caliber program. He has a great instinct for the game and is an excellent addition to the Ragin Cajuns. Stover has an extremely strong leg that, with some minor coaching in this area, should place him in a good position to contribute to the kickoff team next year. With him participating in the UL strength and conditioning program and putting on extra weight, look for Stover to contribute on defense as well as he learns the UL defensive schemes. I am extremely happy for him and his family as he stays close to home to obtain his education and have fun doing what he really likes doing...playing football. Congratulations to you and your family Hunter!

Remember Hunter will be focused just on kicking off and the college weight system will get him stronger so the 10 yards further back will not effect his %..

I think the paper is wrong. has to be more than 63%

63% might be the percentage where they took a knee. More probably went into the endzone but the opponent elected to run it out.

Just a guess.
