WHEN WILL THE BLEEDING STOP.
Geaux Cajuns
Is Jessie Evans available??
Tulane improves to 4-7 for the year with wins over Penn State, George Mason, Alabama State and our Ragin Cajuns. The Green Wave earned their first SBC win last night after losses to UNO (by 1) and WKU (by 14).
Will we win another SBC game?
Three losses at home to date out of five played - including last night's in front of 8,893 empty seats (I thought there were more) hardly makes playing in the Cajun Dome any advantage for the home team.
While Lee is "kicking press room chairs" at the mention of the next game on the road against Louisville, he might want to think about the Gents from Centenary that come to the Dome after Christmas playing a much tougher schedule (and losing) to the likes of Marquette, Oklahoma, La Tech, Mississippi, and probably add Mississippi State (tonight).
P.S. Centenary is 1-0 in SBC play with a 94-84 win over ULM. It's been over two weeks since we scored 84 or more points.
FYI, the leading scorer for Centenary (at over 20ppg) is sophomore David Perez, a local kid from Catholic High in New Iberia.
I am no more of a fan of Lee than anyone else here. However, I will not put that loss on him necessarily. The team came out with no emotion and energy at the beginning of the game and they dug themselves into that hole. They ran good offensive sets and got open shots that should have been hit. They allowed too many easy baskets early on. Lee called a T.O. and got them straight and they made a huge rally to take the lead and keep it at half. They led most of the game and then started making more dumb decisions. Lee did not make Gradnigo throw it to the defender in front of him on inbounding plays 3 times that night and he didn't force them to turn the ball over time after time nor did he leave open Booker for 6 three pointers. I thought that he actually prepared fairly well and coached a decent game. We ran different defenses trying to trap the ball and if the guys had anticipated better several times, they would have had a lot more steals and forced turnovers. The loss clearly came down to lack of fundamentals and lack of focus late in the game along with a career night from Booker and outrageous perimeter shooting. We shot over 50 percent and really played well at times. That was a bizarre loss that I think was shielded by the fact that Tulane clearly played their best game of the year.
Jesse Evans was fired at San Francisco after he took a sebatical in the middle of the season and didn't have a timeframe for his return. Yeah, this is a guy that I want running our program after he ruined the same APR that everybody frets over. He ruined that APR that Lee had to inherit and will finally get over after this year. He won but it was at a cost that we are now paying for.
I heard the announcer mention about an 8 o'clock voluntary shoot around before a previous game that was on TV---2 guys showed up---there is the problem right there my friends!!!!!
