Seriously, Bureau is simply not worth having on the court right now. I understand that we have several guys that are hurt, but I would rather about 4 other active guys than Bureau right now.

He doesn't run down the court on defense. He doesn't move around on offense. His shots aren't falling right now. He turns the ball over. His overall demeanor is lazy. He doesn't have fire. But he sure looks good, blousing his shirt all the time and adjusting his armbands.

Just because he is good "sometimes" and has been in the past, doesn't mean he should be guaranteed 26 playing minutes a game. If he isn't the right answer for your team, take him out.

    Total points (for a "scorer"):

vs. Tulane - 4 points in 26 minutes
    @ Lamar - 3 points in 6 minutes
    @ Southern Miss - 2 points in 26 minutes
vs. FAU - 19 points in 38 minutes
@ Sam Houston St. - DNP
    @ LSU - 10 points in 34 minutes
    @ McNeese - 7 points in 26 minutes
vs. Mobile - 3 points in 27 minutes
vs. Louisiana College - 10 points in 32 minutes
vs. Southern Miss - 11 points in 21 minutes

That is a 7.6 PPG in an average of 26 minutes per game. For a "scorer". Ridiculous.

I think we all agree that this basketball team and this coaching staff are not getting it done! I think everyone (including the coaches) can see the writing on the wall. There is absolutley no doubt in my mind that there will be a completely new basketball staff here at UL shortly after this season.

With that said, I hope that the negative comments being made about Coach Lee will be limited to basketball issues and not him as a person. Coach Lee has dedicated many years of his life to this University and I'm sure he has given it his best. As it has turned out, his best is simply not getting it done. But as a person, I feel Robert Lee is a good man and I wish him well in wherever his carreer might go when he departs his current job. Unfortunatley, sometimes things just don't work out the way we wish it would.

I agree with everything you said.

All I ever ask of any coach is to leave the team better than you found it.

I think the General is a great guy, but he's failing my biggest litmus test.

Are we better now than when he took the helm? The answer is obvious .

    Beautiful post.

I fully respect the man for his dedication to UL and wish him nothing but the best. That being said, I do think it is time for a change, at the END of the season.

DOUBLE DITTO!!!!!! I think maybe he would be good to keep in some capacity around the campus--I know that this can be very risky!!!!

I see this in TJ this year as well. Man we had some muther F-her over the years that played bigger then what they were. Laurie Bridges for one the guy was 6'2", but played like he was 6'6", I love playing with that guy, he could rebound, one thing he was good at was setting HARD Legal SCREENS, to free me and TOINE up for lots of THrees.... This is just a run of bad luck this team is going through, these guys go out and play hard and do what they can, sometimes IMO if you think or have any doubt you could have done one more lil thing during the game, shame on you, you leave it all out there no matter what the game.... Man i know i just went off on different things but man, I HATE LOSIN, and hate losin in the DOME, not a home man, not at home!!!! _
Not having four quick turnovers due to lack of focus late in the game is one way to insure you leave it all on the court. Even a fast paced game like basketball is part mental and not just physical.

I agree that Lee is a nice person who has worked hard at UL. After the news conference following the Tulane game I think that he can no longer remain in any position at our university. His behavior was an embarrasment to our team, our university, and the UL community as a whole. He needs to either become an assistant coach or go coach at the high school level. If he is really as good a person as we all think he is then he could make a huge difference in the lives of some very lucky high school players.

I believe that last year's team would have collapsed under that 16pt deficit, and if not collapsed, surely not have come all the way back by halftime, if at all.

But I have to agree with you about having a ball-buster out there. This team is way short on tough players...too many of them play soft. However, I think a problem bigger than the lack of physical toughness is the lack of mental toughness. There were way too many mistakes down the stretch...not only were they not able to ride on, and build, momentum to stretch the lead even more, they allowed Tulane to come back. Some of the worst passes of the game were made down the stretch and Tulane turned them over. How about that inbounds pass with about 7-9 minutes to go, I think after a fast break layup...the inbounder (Gradnigo?) wasn't paying attention and threw it right to the guy guarding him. It was almost like he handed the ball to him.

Perhaps being mentally tough just isn't in the cards for some of these guys. Perhaps there is a severe discipline problem in the program. Judging from what I saw last night, and from what we've all seen over the past couple years, I have to lean toward the latter. It's so frustrating because you want them to win and be successful, but there are times like last night where it seems like just when they take a step forward, they take two or more back. _

I have to agree. I think Lee has stepped it up this year which won't help him in the long run but I respect that he's got this team playing hard and much more like a team rather than a few individuals. They don't have the physical tools and measurables to rebound with even small teams and their focus has been lacking. You can't necessarily blame a coach on that as they've played really well at times and looked like a J.V. at others. How's my reading comprehension on this one?

I will definitely agree with you on this one Brad. We could use some Lonnie Thomas, Brian Hamilton and Dwayne Mitchell types this year. We are physically mismatched every night on the boards and we don't have someone that will lock someone else up and force the other players to score.I hope we get this next year with a couple of our incoming players.
