“It’s been a win-win, I think, for UL, and it’s been a win-win for the bowl. And it’s been a great financial model for us,” Benson said in New Orleans.
Earlier this year at the Go-Daddy Bowl, however, Benson did tell an Alabama newspaper he feels “there would be benefit from having some variety” when it comes to SBC teams and the bowl games in which they play.
“As well as Arkansas State has come to Mobile and Lafayette has done in New Orleans,” the commissioner said to Al.com, “I think it would be beneficial to the rest of the conference for teams to experience the New Orleans Bowl and the Mobile bowl.”
