Not 100%, but I seem to remember that a player has to pay in a new position 15 times before being eligible.

"Games Played in the Current Season - Once a player has played 10 games in a position during the regular season they will have that position added to their eligibility. This means that they will become eligible for the new position beginning on the eleventh game in that position. These games do not need to be contiguous."

Ok good to know, Hanley Ramirez has started every game so far this year in left field and I was a little worried that I was wasting a shortstop position on a guy that doesnt play there
