Way to go Raiders!
MT wins 42 to 32. They sure looked like they had more overall speed than the Eagles. Good win for the conference over a traditional CUSA power. If Troy can beat Central Michigan, that would make the league 2 and O in the bowls. I believe Central Michigan won the MAC. If the Trojans win, I don't think it would be accurate to say the Belt is the weakest conference in the nation. Some will have that perception for a long time simply because it is the youngest. Only time and more wins like tonight will change that view.
Damion Fletcher becomes newest member of 4000 club. Nice he needed a bowl game to accomplish that. Fenroy had 2 or 3 games left in the season when he did his. No doubt Fletcher is on an NFL roster next year. While Fenroy is not. Huge injustice.
I just realized something, the sunbelt has now won at least 1 bowl game, the last 4 seasons now.(Troy in 2006, FAU in 2007, FAU again in 2008, and MT in 2009, with a chance to get 2 wins this year). Unfortunately, it might take an act of congress for people to realize that the sunbelt is much better than most people believed. That said, the addition of the GMAC bowl will a huge stepping stone for us, and we'll be guarenteed to have 2 spots every year for SBC teams to strut their stuff.
BTW nice seeing Fenroy's name amongst the 1000k for all 4 years!!! We were La'La on the screen!
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Middle Tennessee and its throng of fans enjoyed an early Blue Christmas in the Big Easy when it powered past Southern Miss, 42-32, in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome Sunday night.
The Blue Raiders capped one of the best seasons in school history with their first bowl win during the FBS era as the Sun Belt's representative in the New Orleans Bowl, where Conference USA representative Southern Miss had never lost in three previous tries before getting throttled by a spirited Middle Tennessee team. It was the second bowl appearance for Middle Tennessee as a FBS member and its first in the New Orleans Bowl.
Middle Tennessee (10-3) ended the season with a seven-game win streak. It's the most wins for the Blue Raiders since the 1990 squad won 11 and the win streak is the longest since the 1985 team won 11 straight. Astonishing junior quarterback Dwight Dasher was named the New Orleans Bowl Most Valuable Player after accounting for 363 yards total offense - 201 rushing and 162 passing - rushing for two touchdowns and passing for two more.

Congrats to the Blue Raiders. Very good showing in the national spotlight.
