Interesting comment from Hud about Ray.
Yes....interesting on a couple of levels....
That does seem strange, that a RS is a complete given at this point for Ray. You would have to think that Dion wasn't expecting to RS. If so, why not stay in HS through the year and enjoy being a HS Senior, going to prom, graduating with your friends, etc.? Whats the point in being an early enrollee if you will be redshirting?
To get practice, and opportunity. He gets an extra half year practice. He gets the coaches attention in a a less stressful environment. In the fall he is one of about forty new players.
But if you think about Ray wanting to play QB, redshirting, working on his mechanics, and learning the system is the best way to ensure he gets to take snaps under center. Hud knows Ray won't beat out Haack for the starting job, and doing so by force would feed the kid to the wolves. If Ray is really dead on serious about playing QB, redshirting this year is the only way to do so. If Ray wasn't serious about it...I'm sure he wouldn't be getting a redshirt, he would be playing at another position right now.
Well he isn't getting snaps so he must be doing something, what is that something? Or are the snaps about scrimmage?
