Louisiana continues the second segment of non-conference play on Saturday, Dec. 19 in Beaumont, Texas, at the Montagne Center against Lamar. Tipoff is 7:05 p.m.
● Louisiana went 2-4 in the first round of non-conference action. The Cajuns lost to Southern Miss on Tuesday in Hattiesburg, 71-53, in the first of five games during the current second segment of non-league play which wraps up Dec. 28.
● For the second straight road game Louisiana visits a venue it hasn't been to in a while. On Tuesday, the game at Southern Miss was the Cajuns first trip to Green Coliseum since January 2001. Saturday's game with Lamar marks the first visit to the Montagne Center since December 1998.
● The Ragin' Cajuns seek to avenge last season's loss to Lamar at the Cajundome. Behind Kenny Dawkins' 29 points the Cardinals won 78-68 on Nov. 18.
● Rebounding could be a factor, again. Lamar averages 41.0 rebounds per game as has a +7.0 margin; Louisiana averages 32.6 rebounds with a -4.7 margin.
● Louisiana has won its last two Saturday contests (SHSU & FAU). The Cajuns are 1-0 in the State of Texas this season (won 95-85 at Sam Houston Dec. 5).
● The Cajuns have protected the ball well the past two games, committing only 25 miscues. That could play in their favor as Lamar averages 17.3 turnovers per game.
● The 500-point watch is on for Tyren Johnson - he's only 25 shy.
● The Cajuns are getting to the free throw line, averaging 26.1 attempts per game.
