BATON ROUGE, La. - Jasmine Barnes recorded her first career double-double as the Louisiana Lady Cajuns were able to grab an 86-76 win over Houston Baptist at the Sue Gunter Classic on Wednesday at the Maravich Assembly Center.

The Blazers are now 3-7 on the season. The three wins this year matches the win total of the 2008-09 season.

Barnes was one of four Cajuns in double figures, scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds with 10 of her rebounds coming off the offensive glass. Alexis Green joined Barnes with 20-plus points, leading UL with 23. It was the first time since the 2006-07 season that two Cajuns have scored at least 20 points in a game.

The last Cajun duo to accomplish the feat was Yolanda Jones (27) and Jeanenne Colbert (20) against FIU on Feb. 22, 2007.

In the first half, the Cajuns found themselves trailing 15-25 with 8:46 remaining before closing out the half on a 20-10 run to take a 35-35 tie into the break.

UL started the second half with a 6-0 run, eventually grabbing a nine-point lead at 50-41 with 13:08 remaining. But the Huskies were able to claw their way back, tying the contest at 55-55 at the 9:50 mark. The two teams battled back and forth before the Cajuns went on a 12-2 run at the 7:50 mark to establish a double-digit lead, 74-64. UL closed out the half, with Houston Baptist never getting closer than eight points.

Barnes finished the night 9-of-15 from the floor with three assists and four steals. Green posted back-to-back 20-point efforts going 6-of-13 from the filed and 11-of-16 from the charity stripe. She also had seven rebounds and six assists without recording a turnover.

Joining the duo in double figures were Mercedes Johnson and Nicole Morris who both chipped in 11 points.

The Cajuns posted a 43.5 shooting percentage (30-69) and outrebounded HBU 47-40. The Huskies shot 42 percent on the night (26-69).

Louisiana also won the battle at the free thrown line going 25-0f-35 to the Huskies' 15-of-21 effort.

The Cajuns will continue play on Saturday as they open up Sun Belt play with Florida Atlantic. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT at Earl K. Long Gym. UL will also be facing Centenary on Monday afternoon for another 2:00 p.m. CT match at E.K. Long.
