BATON ROUGE, La. - In the first round of the Sue Gunter Classic, North Carolina A&T proved too much for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team as UL fell to the Lady Aggies, 78-95, at the Pete Maravich Center on Tuesday evening.
Down by one at the 16:42 mark, the Lady Aggies went on a 16-5 run to take a 27-15 lead with 11:56 remaining in the half.
Despite shooting 51.7 percent (15-29) in the first frame, the Cajuns found themselves trailing 36-49 entering halftime. The Lady Aggies were able to knock down 65.6 percent of their field goals (21-32).
In the second half, A&T built up a 26-point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining to coast to the victory.
The Cajuns struggled on the night committing 24 turnovers which led to 21 points for North Carolina A&T.
Alexis Green led UL with a season-high 24 points and seven rebounds. Mercedes Johnson chipped in 19 points.
The Cajuns will now face the loser from the No. 5/12 LSU/Houston Baptist game. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT.
