Besides, it kinda takes the edge off of blowing two to UALR.
Respectfully disagree. Kinda akin to having "intestinal distress" (losing to ULAR) then discovering no paper on the roll (Incarnate Word).

That's the other point. The big boys, with their deep pockets don't buy into the 3rd level tournament abet Colorado. Money losing proposition. Has nothing to do with being miserable Reb, simple business decision. No money to be made in a tournament the nation doesn't give a flip about. Risk of injury on top of it all. Risk outweighs reward. But at the end of the day, I'd go to games here.

FWIW, hoax in CBI, Georgia Southern either not invited to any or kept their money in the bank.

I guess this is just a generational thing. Being I attended and graduated in the 70's, I just place a different value on post season basketball.

I'll admit, D1 basketball has blown up team wise since ESPN and the Big East came along. And I'm from the school of thought that Michael Jordan was the best and worst thing that happened to basketball in the last 50 years. It's a one in a million chance we will ever be what we once were.

But common sense simply tells me that an in season(s) home and home with a quality team that costs us money will drawn more and be more meaningful (RPI) than a game against a SLC team. That point is being lost. It's a Southland Conference Team...on the road. Any other day you guys trashing me would be up in arms over this match up in the regular season (see McNeese, Northwestern State threads this year). But the same match up in a 4th tier tournament makes it ok?

I'm not trying to trash anyone.

I'm not going to pretend this tournament means all that much. I don't think anyone thinks it's equivalent to the NIT or NCAA. But it's more basketball, more practice, more instruction, and a chance to accomplish something. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

All of our athletic programs have (with very few exceptions) operated in the red for 100+ years now. All of our athletic programs have gone to in-season and postseason tournaments even though they lost money by doing so. Please explain to me why all of a sudden on March 16, 2015, our basketball team shouldn't be allowed to play a postseason basketball game unless they can make a profit off of it?

    You're welcome :-)
The alleged reason we have such a ____ty regular season is we cannot afford to buy good games. This game is bought. Nobody is trying to dis the team, nor their desire to compete. Me and some wonder why we have money for this and not that. Regular season so much more important than this.

This is epidemic in the SBC by the way non division one games. Another reason to adios.
