The Cajuns will be participating in the Sue Gunter Classic hosted by LSU on Tuesday and Wednesday in Baton Rouge, La. On Tuesday, UL will face the 2009 MEAC Tournament Champions, North Carolina A&T, at 4:30 p.m. CT. Depending on the outcome, the Cajuns will face either No. 5 LSU or Houston Baptist on Wednesday.

•The Cajuns will be facing North Carolina A&T and possibly Houston Baptist for the first time in program history.

•All-time against the Lady Tigers, the Cajuns are 5-24. After winning the five-straight meetings against LSU from 1971-74, the Lady Tigers have won 24-contests.

•The Sue Gunter Classic will be the second tournament the Cajuns have played in this season. Over Thanksgiving weekend, UL went 0-3 at Baylor's World Vision Classic in Waco, Texas, falling to the Lady Bears, Lamar and Idaho.

And All That Jazz...

Junior Jasmine Barnes has continued to improve during the 2009-10 season after averaging 8.2 points per game during her sophomore season.

This season she leads the Cajuns, averaging 31.5 minutes per game and has reached double figures in each of the last three contests. Over the three-game stretch, Barnes is averaging 16.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 36.3 minutes of play.

Barnes netted a career-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting as the Cajuns fell to Southeastern La. in overtime on Dec. 5. She also reached double figures in UL's win over McNeese, scoring 11 points, narrowly missing a double-double with eight rebounds.
Unlike Any Other

Mercedes Johnson began her sophomore season right where she left off her impressive freshman year.

In the season-opener, Johnson led UL with 18 points and six rebounds, hitting 6-of-11 field goals.

In the opening game of the World Vision Classic, Johnson put up career numbers with her second double-double of her career. Against Lamar, Johnson scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Cajuns in the loss.

Against McNeese, Johnson scored 20 points for the third time in her career, hitting double figures for the 23rd time in 34 games.

Seeing Double

Alexis Green has been a consistent threat for the Cajuns' point production. Out of 35 career games played for UL, the junior college transfer has scored in double figures 28 times.

In eight of those games, Green scored 20-plus points, including a career-high 32 against Louisiana-Monroe last season.

She has also recorded three double-doubles in her time at Lafayette. Her most recent double-double performance came in the final game of the World Vision Classic against Idaho. In the loss, Green put up 18 points with 10 rebounds.

She has been the team's leading scorer 18 times.

Against the Pelican State

The Cajuns finished the 2008-09 season with a 1-7 record against teams from the state of Louisiana. In fact, UL has not had a losing record against state schools since the 2002-03 season. During the 2009-10 season, the Ragin' Cajuns will play nine games against teams from Louisiana. The Cajuns sit at 1-3 against the Pelican State this season, falling twice to Southeastern Louisiana and once to Southern while earning a win over McNeese State.
Home Grown
