3 football championships in the 20 odd years since the separation of football into 1A and 1AA. I think the Cowboys have won or shared around 10 SLC football championships over that same time period not to mention the post season appearances. I don't like or dislike the reasons I was just pointing out a way the Cajuns and the Cowboys could meet on a more regular basis which would be a benefit to both schools. Some just can't seem to take the suggestion in the spirit it was offered. You are taking yourself way too seriously based upon the Cajuns 20 year football record.

No we are not taking ourselves to seriously! Houston won't go to Texas State, Ark State won't go to Central Arkansas, Ohio U won't make the trip to Southern Illinois...why? Because 1A schools don't travel to 1aa schools PERIOD! Your argument is a bad one and you should drop it!

I bet McNeese could come up with close to the same amount as ULM and its only a one hour bus ride so the cost to go is very low. The payoff would come from the 2 games we would get with hopefully larger crowds. I am not advocating playing a bunch of FCS programs on the road just POSSIBLY McNeese because of the rivialy of the two schools in the past. If they insist on a home and home or they won't play us then don't play them I was just offering a suggestion. They would probably kick our butt regardless. _

ULM is a conference opponent and not an FCS program. You're grasping at straws.

_ I have a news flash for you most larger 1A schools look at the Cajuns with a similar attitude that the Cajuns look at McNeese. Why should we go play at the smaller venue? Since UL //L decided to got 1A how many larger schools have played at Cajun Field? Not many and by many I mean 10 or more teams. Granted its true 1A teams don't got to 1AA venues but I think the Cajun/Cowboy past rivialy makes it a little more unique. What would be the big deal in throwing them a bone once and a while? _

Oklahoma St. (2), Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Minnesota, and now Kansas St. this year & Okie St. again next year....not to mention Washington St. & Mississippi St. that were scheduled to come but backed out...they may have the same attitude but they still came because we were able to work something out FINANCIALLY!!!! With only 4 OOC games, UL has to meet certain requirements and RYAN ST. HIGH can not make it worth going to Lake Chuck (unless they could pay us $500,000 minimal).

The bottom line is UL has no responsibility to travel to Lake Charles and play the Cowboys at a discount rate to help their program or any other program for that matter. All Cajun fans should want what is financially in the best interest of our athletic programs. We paid McNeese State more then any other FCS program historically to come to Lafayette and play at Cajun Field. There are some conversations taking place amongst the UL-System schools about playing each other on rotating bases in the near future because of the current economic crisis and budget cuts. If that plan is eventually voted on and accepted, you will not see Louisiana Tech, ULM or UL travel to any FCS programs period. This is common practice amongst Bowl Division programs and all other chatter on the peripheral is nothing more then idle smack talk by fans like yourself that have nothing better to do.

BTW, shouldn’t it be the “cowboys broke our backside in 2007”, if you are a Cajun fan?
