Rumored: Saints may trade Drew Brees to Bucs

I think you misunderstood me, trade Brees to mentor Manzel. Get the Browns 1st round and a 3rd. Then package two of the 1st round picks to trade up to get Amari Cooper and a more picks. Draft a QB and use this draft to build for the future.

Let's face it, we are not SB contenders at the moment. So start the rebuild to get there.

Why trade up to get a WR when the saints won't have anybody worth a damn to throw him the ball? Let's face it, there might be a couple of teams with the cap room to pick up Brees. Brees is not going anywhere. Let's just hope the Tulane QB is Peyton's next Romo type steal.

The reason you pick Cooper if you can get him is that you will have a young core group of skill players that a QB can grow with.

Brees has 2 more productive years if he stays, but what do we get? I love Brees and he will go into the HOF as a Saint, but even Indy was smart enough to part with Peyton and draft Luck. They should be the model we follow.

The Colt's situation was little bit different. Peyton's injury allowed them to obtain Luck via a high draft pick. Plus they didn't know if Peyton would ever return to the field. Brees isn't injuried and the saints were still competitive with an injury plaques defense. Now if Brees gets hurt and his return is questionable. By all means implement the Colts strategy and pray we don't select a bust a qb.

You do realize that Indy situation was a perfect storm, right? Manning out for the year following neck surgery causing the team to have the worst record in the NFL in the exact same year that Luck happened to be available. They could have kept both but wanted to move ahead with grooming Luck like they did with Payton when he was first drafted. That is not the situation with the Saints, and I don't see a quarterback in this draft that comes anywhere close to being Andrew Luck. JMO

The Colts went to how many playoffs under Manning in a row, and conference championships? Luck is good, but clearly not Manning. I doubt the Saints get anywhere close to Brees because that quarterback is not in this years draft, unless he is a hidden jewel.

Luck has made playoffs every year

Luck was as close to a slam dunk as Peyton was. That situation isn't presenting itself this year. NFL is a copy cat league. Want the next Wilson...your best bet is Mariota. Want the next Cam Newton...your best bet is Winston. Beyond that...it's possible there is a diamond in the rough...but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

Luck is about to explode in Indy. Adding Frank Gore and Andre Johnson to go with Fleenor and TY Hilton....Lawd! Indy will have a ring within the next 5 years.
