San Diego was a passing team at the time. Phillip Rivers has thrown for over 4,000 yards in basically the same offensive SYSTEM Brees was in. Imagine what he could do in the system in New Orleans.

Hypothetical situation for you... Who would you rather keep around if you had to choose, and you would lose every one else? Drew Brees, the entire O-Line, the entire defense or Sean Peyton? If the answer is anything other than Sean Peyton, you need to stop watching football, and go put on replays of Curling from the winter olympics… Brees is a very accurate QB who has the tools to succeed in Peyton's offense… but so do many other QBs. Without Peyton, Brees never sniffs the HOF muchless gets considered for it.
Well to be fair to Brees... His OC in San diego was Cam Cameron

Yes, as a generic definition, just as a defense would be a system.

But his comment was about the Saints success as a product of the "system", not Brees.

I define system quarterbacks as those who you can "plug and play" into the offense and the offense runs. A quarterback is perceived to be successful but not extraordinarily talented. I would define extraordinarily as elite, like Brees, Manning and Brady. Those QB's that can win the game on their arm or their leadership.

Rivers also doesn't have one of the est running backs ever behind him while there.

, payton and Brees were a perfect fit...they don't accomplish what they have without each other, getting brees on the cheap off of injury allowed them to build a team to win a championship. Payton's system fits Brees strengths.

You forgot Wilson and Rogers...they have both won games with their arms and leadership. More than Brees did last year anyway.

I agree. He created an offense for Drew Brees to run and they have had success. This offense cannot run without Brees. He goes down, the offense collapses.

He did Tomlinson was in San Diego until 2010...and threw for more yards than Brees did....still.

Actually that hasn't been proven yet. The offense has collapsed with him under center so...don't really know what you are trying to say.

Payton Manning is the system… He brought HIS system, and intelligence with him to Denver. He runs that offense. Neither Brady, nor Brees can take claim to that. I love Brees more than any other QB in the league, and am a die hard Saints fan. Even when Brees is gone, I'll still hold him higher in my heart than probably any other player who has ever put on the black and gold. It still doesn't change the fact that he thrived because of Sean Peyton's system. Crazy said it best… the two thrive together, and Peyton is smart enough to find another accurate, smart passer (I.E. Glennon) who could fill the shoes of Brees when he leaves…

Didn't Hasselbeck lead Seattle to the Super Bowl with the same offense Wilson runs? When Rodgers went down a few years ago, Flynn went in and played well for the remainder of the season.

Like I said before, you truly get to see Wilson's talent when the play breaks down.
