Uno has 0 support so to accomplish what he has there is impressive.

I was wondering the same thing. He has done for UNO what Lee has done for us.

Pasternack went 19-13 in his first year with a senior-laden team in 2007-08, including an upset of No. 21 North Carolina State. It was the program's best season since 1997. He replaced Buzz Williams, who bolted for Marquette. Williams took over when Monte Towe was fired the previous year.

The Privateers struggled last season at 11-19 after losing Bo McCalebb with only three returning players as well as injuries and discipline issues. The lack of depth wasn't Pasternack's fault. It was a perfect example of how the previous coaches failed to recruit quality depth for the future. How he even won 11 games with that group of players is amazing.

Pasternack brought in a strong recruiting class this season, and UNO is poised to surprise a lot of people. I expect the Privateers to finish near the top of the Sun Belt's West Division.

He also helped get a $1 million donation from a former UNO basketball player and local businessman - quite a feat for a program that has long struggled to get any financial support.

Pasternack has a strong background as an assistant and recruiter. He's young. He's eager. He has Louisiana ties and has six years of D1 experience as an assistant at Cal. He has the approval of Bobby Knight.

And based on how things have gone so far this season, he's rebuilt the program with a mix of his own recruits from the prep ranks, junior college and D1. Plus, he's shown the willingness to get out and drum up financial support for the basketball program.

You would like to see a little more on-court success as a head coach before seriously considering him for another D1 gig - and I think you will this season - but those other factors show, at least in my mind, that he's a rising star in the profession.

I want to hire the coach that will get us to sun belt championships and the occasional NCAA tourney. I want that guy. ;-)

Also, with UNO dropping down to a lower level, wouldn't he be able to bring his key players with him to UL with immediate eligibility?

Pasternacks daddy is a business guy in NOLA. That was where the 1 million came from. I don't think he has done anything to warrant us hiring him. Josh, the one thing I could give a crap about is if someone worked for Bobby Knight. He was a manager for Knight, not a player or coach. Why would u hire guy who hasn't won an SBC championship to be our coach? I think he is probably a nice coach, and has done a good job. But I'm not ready to hand over the monster this program could become to someone with a 509 record. Plus the only reason he has Billy Humphrey is because of the coach that is on our staff now

Directly responsible for recruiting and landing some of the Ragin Cajun finest roundballers, including, but not limited to DWAYNE MITCHELL, ORIEN GREEEN, CHRIS CAMRON, TIRAS WADE, BRIAN HAMILTON, to name a few, this is a fact. Heck, Brad, he probably got you to sign on the dotted line!
