Thread: Pelicans

    Default Pelicans

I know most here are well into baseball mode and I'm sure most aren't in tune to what is happening with the Pelicans this season but I hope some start to take notice. This team has two of its best players out with injury and they are scraping for a final playoff spot in the miserable Western Conference. Oh, and by the way, Anthony Davis has gone for 43 tonight and is just a MAN...

If you feel the urge also, you should try making a trip to a Pelicans home game as well. The games are extremely fun and we try to do about 8-10 a year. The Memphis game this past weekend was nuts and there was a near sellout. You have an exciting and young team that is growing into a future contender.

Enjoy Anthony Davis while we still can. The NBA superteam model makes me sad.

Haven't kept up much with them as much as I usually do. Is Eric Gordon finally playing like he wants to be there or still the same ole, same ole?

I was at that Grizzlies game. It was so fun. I believe that was game number 3 or 4 for me this season. This team really is fun to watch. They're fighting hard. Not only are they in the tougher conference by far, they are also in easily the toughest division in basketball, maybe even professional sports. They're playing great all things considered.

He's playing great. This team is definitely worse without him. If we let him go after next year, we better find a suitable replacement. Because he has been a very important part of our success. I personally wouldn't mind keeping him as long as it's not on a max deal.

Yes, Eric Gordon is now actually acting like he wants to be in Nola. Evidently, he went to a doctor up north that helped him rehab his knee issues. He looks more like the player he was in LA.

Eric Gordon has actually had a really great past couple of months. I'd even go as far as to say he's living up to his max contract.

I think it's an absolute travesty that Anthony Davis isn't being mentioned as an MVP candidate this year. His player efficiency rating is off the charts and in my book he's playing better than anyone else in the league. The only reason he's not being considered for an MVP is because he still so young and his team is not in contention for an NBA title. He is THAT GOOD.

I put a lot of money on the Pels making it to the finals in the next few years. That seems to be the consensus among the experts too. It's exciting to see all the pieces come together, and this is really exciting team to watch.

After watching the NBA as much as I have this season, It sure makes watching Sun Belt basketball a lot harder. These guys have mind blowing athleticism. The Pels are an absolute joy to watch.

He's not as explosive. But he's definitely refined his game. And I think this style of play will make him much less injury prone. He's not going out there and making some crazy athletic play, but he's being very efficient with the ball and playing smarter.

If you attend a game in person, you pick up how skilled these athletes are. This and their speed do not come through on TV. Folks that say no defense is played in the NBA do not know what they are talking about. Yes the Pelicans are fun to watch right now and they are headed in the right direction. Next season could be fun in basketball as I expect both the cajuns and Pels to continue to do well.

Anthony Davis loves New Orleans and will sign an extension this summer.

I really hope so. If he stays, the core is there to do something really great if they stay healthy. A couple pieces and they could legitimately make a push.

NBA rules allow the Pels to pay him more than any other team can. That is the case for the first major contract you sign after your rookie deal. That along with his fondness for the area will cause him to sign the extension. He also has an appreciation for his coach so I don't expect Monty Williams to be released after the season. Only way that happens is if they have a losing record and they only need 7 more wins for a winning year. I know some of you don't listen to Scott Prather much. However he occasionally discusses the Pelicans and his insight into the organization is as higher than anyone in the area and generally exceeds even the New Orleans media.
