Interesting take on that losing section of the season. When your opponents don't get as many poorly defended threes you get more fast break layups, and threes. Lock out those long distant baskets and the defense and offense get better.
Just thinking and did not do the research on this, but I bet our uncontested turnovers were up during that time as well.
Coach Marlin has always focused on running opponents off the three point line. I have heard him say that many times at Rebounders meetings. I don't know why they were not successful at that during the losing streak. Maybe it was because it took awhile to find the right lineup or the guys were not simply buying into the plan. I also think that saying it is one thing but emphasizing it in practice more brought it to a focal point. Bottom line is a better job of defending the 3 has been a big part of the turnaround. Cajun Express is right on that point.
