Thread: Congratulations to Men's Basketball for a winning D1 season

This year's travel schedule was a total cluster ____ for teams and add a lot of cost to all teams. Not saying this stopped us from buying games or playing better, but it not help. Yes I know the coaches/ADs voted for this schedule and shot the first two down, but it still does not make it right.

Also we have to get rid of this notion that we have to play ever team in the conference because everyone doesn't not make the conference tournament. It is also time for UALR to step up or get out. They do not play football and they are below the league minimum number of teams. Just one less team in the league would allow us to start conference play after the first of the year. Ideally we would not start conference play until the students are back in school. It is ashamed we play GA (crybaby) State before the semester started. I could go on about the schedule inadequacies that we faced this year but it would not change the facts that we lost to NW, McNeese and USA (after we had 10 point leads at halftime).
I would love us getting back to playing SEC schools at home, but first I would like for our team not have to bus to a different city to fly out to save a few dollars.

UALR played 30 games, 29 against D1 schools. In addition they had six non conference games at home, only two on the road and two neutral site games.

I think they did fine with their scheduling.

Now, technically they could have played 31 because they played in an exempt event. But there are many schools that played 29 so I'm not going to nit pick.

Well, if you think Keith Richard isn't a good coach, think again. We had some battles with him when he was at Tech and he won his fair share.

ULM, by the way, finished one game ahead in the standings. This year.

Jay I was speaking more to the number of teams they are fielding. I.E. Men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball etc. I am almost positive they are below what the S-BC bylaws says is the number of teams that a university must have to be in the S-BC. Since I hate when people post and do not back it up with the facts or look for someone else to do the research for them, I will look it up myself and get back to you.

Tech@Ruston finishes their season at 25-8 tonight and will not be in the relevant tournament.

Tech has not been in the tourney since 1991. Winning CUSA regular season gets you same thing winning SBC regular season or SLC regular season at this stage, a No. 1 seed in your tourney and a trip to the NIT when you are knocked out. I don't know if there is a southern mid major league in which that is not the case. Murray State won over 25 this year and probably won't be dancing.

I think going to the NCAA tournament is only one part of the equation. An automatic bid simply means you outlasted your peers. The worst qualifier goes to the tournament.

It is a good thing to outlasted our peers on several occasions. But that is all it means. We have never gone as a bad qualifier so that is nice.

I am thrilled they haven't gone.

That is the whiniest fanbase ever. Batching about the court, officiating, rest time between games. Geez they are pathetic
