Where is Bazar?
Incorrect. If you paid attention last year, his fastball lost velocity toward the end of the season (the grind/long season). Also, said fastball does not have a lot of movement on it. His curveball has gotten better, but he still can't consistently throw it for a strike. What does this mean? A hitter can just sit back and wait for a low to mid 90s fastball. That thing can get turned around in a hurry. He has to learn how to be a pitcher and not a thrower. With all that being said, I hope he can see his upside, good kid.
Come on man. Seriously? Everyone was paying attention last year.!!! I never said anything about his ability last year or this year. I spoke about his use by Robe. And now he is not being used as often. Therefore, by process of elimination. I would assume that our staff may be better this year. Not saying it is. Just says something when a guys was used offten to close and now is not being used
Robe used him in the opening weekend. He hit the first batter he faced and then gave up a homerun. That doesn't instill confidence.
He was less effective toward the end of last season as word got out on him. Also, he was utilized last year to try and weather and develop him (because of his upside). There was a lot of buffer last year with the depth of that team. There hasn't been a lot of growth from then to now.
Staff is different from last year-- better? Not according to performance so far.
Bazar is still alot of potential.. his FB is not slower-- he is throwing slower to try to locate..trying to be a pitcher not a thrower.
Robe is up to something here-- but in the meantime until the time is right, he may be limited to mid week relief or mop up duty.
Long season though, and when he finally does get it, he will be a valuable asset to the team.
He will be a very effective pitcher eventually. I hope it happens before he turns pro.
Just to clarify something that I didn't make clear in the story: The success of the other guys in the bullpen roles so far has allowed Robe to take a developmental approach with Bazar early this year, trying to get him to refine his control and develop some of his secondary stuff.
