James, did you miss the guy's last post or something? He said that he joined the RCAF and is looking forward to supporting the Cajuns from here on out...with an attitude change like that I am more than happy to forgive the past.

All I wanted to see was effort.

I got to meet coach hud on Wednesday, and impressed would be an understatement.
Got my RCAF status, and would have got season tickets but they told me to call them Monday which you can bet im doing.

I cant wait to go to Cajun Field and Cajun Dome for every game.

And contrary to what some people may think judging by my 1st post 2 years ago, I do not expect miracles.

I dont require the Cajuns to win 8 games a year to get my support.

All they have to do is one simple thing. CARE!
Thats all I ever asked for.
I am not results oriented, im care oriented. As long as the administration at least pretends like they care about putting a good product out there, thats all I need.

I dont care if we go 0-12 or 0-30.

This will not stop my support.

At the time of starting this thread, I had the impression that the people in charge did not care one way or the other, and that rubbed me the wrong way.

Some other people held me to my literal statement that I have not been to a game in 10 years.

Looking back on it, it was not quite that long ago.
The last football game I went to was the last time we played Tech at home(before they deemed themselves too good for us.

The last basketball game I went to was Jessie Evans last season, not quite 10 years in both cases.

But I never missed a single game in the Nelson Stokley era, and very few games in the __ and JE era.

Me not caring was killing me.
I missed UL athletics being a big part of my life. Its like it was a 10 year hole in my life.

Im so glad I can support this program again, both with my attendance, and my money.

Fight on Cajuns fight on to victory for the red and white.
We will sing for triumph and victory for our team tonight.
We will feel the rage of the Cajuns so lets give a yell.
hussle up and bustle up and fight on to victory U OF L!

Hey I still remember the fight song!
Even though I think a missed a few words, I still have the jist of it.
I replaced USL with U of L for obvious reasons.

    Cant wait to sing again.

    GO LOUISIANA!
    Nice.

Of course you know ressurecting an old thread runs the risk of some reading and replying to your first few posts.

So please take those (if they happen) with a grain of salt.

Read the date on post #1.

Yea, some of it was childish looking back on it.
It was just the frustration getting the best of me at the time.
But my feeling about the administration during that time were very valid.

I take back some of the things I said about some of the fans though.

Although I will never forget Jay Walker telling me that its my fault for not showing up at the game 2 hours before kickoff and that it was nobodies fault but my own for not getting in before halftime at a half empty stadium.

That was a low point for me. That and the time they did not have any chalk to chalk the football field with, a few years before that.

There was just such a who cares attitude back then with finger pointing all over the place. It was unhealthy and was not fun.

I am not one of the 8K people that will go to the game just because they are playing.
Like I said, I have not been to Cajun Field or the Cajun Dome in 10 years.

I don’t expect a National title contender, but I do expect the university to care more then me.

I have been a member of this forum for a while. I can’t say that I spend a ton of time here lurking, but I do spend enough time here to realize that the administration is not the only ones that has a problem.

I hate the attitude of some of the fans. Some of you act like your **** don’t stink because you go to the game to watch an inferior product, and when the people like me go after a 2 game winning streak you pretty much show the cold shoulder. You guys want people at the games, but when they show up you act like its some kind of privileged for us to be there like we are not worthy.

I remember the last game I tried to go to, it was a home game against LATECH. I showed up at 6:45. They had one girl in the whole stadium taking tickets. By the time it got to my turn in line it was almost halftime and the Cajuns were already down 3 TDS, yet they still wanted to charge full price for there incompetence. The next Monday I called Jay Walker about the situation and he blasted me for not showing up at 5PM. Hey DUDE!!!! I think they only had 16K people at that game!!! Why should I have to show up 2 hrs before a game when the stadium is only half full? I can go to a Saints game with 70K people 15 mins before start time and still make the opening KO. The problem is not me, it’s the 1 girl at the ticket window.

The tailgate thread was a joke. I have been tailgating a few times in the last 10 years, and if they ever kick me out once the game starts I promise you, me and thousands of others will never step foot inside the stadium even if they go 13-0.

During the Mitchell and Jake years I was at every game, I have the potential to go to every game again. But until the University and the fans start treating the casual fans with a little respect, I’m afraid you are going to have to live with 8K for football and 800 for basketball.

Robert Lee not getting canned is an insult.

I use to love going to the Cajun dome and watching Marty ball, but for some reason the cajunnecks down here never accepted him and ran him off.

Then Jessie came along, he was not perfect, but at least he brought some level of success to the program, once again the Cajun necks never accepted him and he left for a better job.

Its time to quit blaming LSU for all the problems. Do you know how childish that sounds?

LSU has zero to do with ULs success or failure.

Its time to quit blaming the SUNBELT conference for all of ULs problems. Why don’t you start dominating the SUNBELT first, then maybe just maybe you can make the case that you are ready to move onto bigger and better things.

The problem right now is the administrations no care attitude, and the Alumni and fans ____ poor attitude.

You can like me or hate me, the bottom line is you will never see 25K at Cajun Field or 10K at the Cajun dome without me sitting in one of the seats. _

    I don't get your post????
What I would suggest, stop reading these boards and go to the games and have fun..
We are not the casual fans... If you go to any college fan board they will all be the same..
Rabid fans wanting more, wanting success..
Sooooo, stop reading, join RCAF and go to the games and have fun...

But the attitude of the 1st 2 posters after my 1st post is a perfect example of the kind of people that I was talking about.

You guys are going to have to get over it.
Sometimes I feel like you want your 6K fans in the stands. You wear it like a badge of or something.

Time to quit thinking that your something that your not.
There are a lot of people in this town that would support this program with just a few changes.

It is a very fine line being a winner, and not being a winner.
I dont think the changes need to be wholesale.
I would support the team if they had Troys success in football or WKUs success in basketball. Im not asking for much. _
So, because people on this board gave you a hard time, you give up and find an excuse not to support your university. I worked at the UL athletic department in the past and met a ton of people like you, always finding some excuse to not come and support Cajun Athletics, WIN or LOSE. I find the friendship and festivities for tailgating very much fun, and I like college sports. I love the University more than I love winning or I would not return year after year to support this University's Athletic Department. YOU and only you can make decide to support or not to support. I have a ton of frat brothers who don't support UL anymore and it upsets me. I find they tend to support the university where there kids went, whick I have no problem with, except their Diploma doesn't read lsu, Auburn, or Alabama.
IF YOU LET A FEW GUYS ON THIS SITE, GET YOUR GOAT THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT SUPPORT OUR GANG OF FANATICS but the decision to support this University is not our fault, You CHOSE THAT. You either love it or don't. I wonder because of this site, you don't support the academic part either, not a member of the alumni association. Do you even keep up with all the accompliments this University has made since the Name change and believe IT has made a difference. Have you ever met Dr. Authement or Savoie and introduced youself and asked them how things are going with the University. I have and I have learned from Publications and people at the University. This University not only gave me an education but gave me some of the best friends in the world, that is why I now live here rather than N. La.

Don't quit because of a bit of harrassment, laugh it off and move on and help us make this University, second to none.

Chop, glad to see your frame of mind and attitude have changed. However, I'd like mention a few things about that post. First, overall problem that most of us have with the "bandwagoners" is that they are great to have in good times but are often the first and loudest when offering their displeasure of a program due to a lack of positive results. This becomes particularly tough for many of the faithful fans to deal with who have stayed in the struggle so to speak in hopes of supporting a viable program.

It usually doesn't do much for someone's rep to especially post such negative comments about a program they haven't supported in person in years. If you do business with a company and are a valued customer for a long period of time, will you not get better rates, quicker response to problems and overall higher priority?

It's also very frustrating for the casual fan to assume that the same old same old is going on here without knowing the truth. Our new leadership is behind athletics and they've been putting a lot of money and resources into improving our image for several years now. When people still make general comments assuming the worst, they obviously have no intimate knowledge of who is in office now and what vision they truly have. It only hurts credibility of those who truly have not spent a minimal amount of time keeping up with the state of the program to only come here and bash it.

You are right though, this program does need people like you to generate more ticket sales, merchandise sales and overall interest and buzz in an area that is often preoccupied with LSU and what it is doing. Getting more people in the stands and seeing the improving product will hopefully trickle down when they bring others and those people bring others to get our atmosphere better. Notice I said "in the stands". You obviously had an issue with removing people from the parking lot when tailgating after the game has started. I know a few that do this. They believe they are supporting the university or team when doing this but in reality they are not. They are not spending money on tickets, they haven't spent money on the tailgating spot and usually, these are the people that were too cheap to even chip in and buy a dish or pay someone who's spot they used. This is another thread in itself but that person is not supporting what the new staff, players and administration is trying to do and that's build a winner. They are simply sitting idle until it happens for which then they will go to the stadium to often complain about gameday conditions.

OK, off my soapbox. However, it's good to see that you have evolved and have taken the time to see that the administration has done the same. The staff has obviously begun to generate a ton of activity and buzz and I think we are looking at an exciting future of cajun football and basketball. Hope to see you at the Dome or Cajun Field.

    Hey ZEPH.

I would not call myself a bandwagon jumper.

As I said in the post that you quoted. I dont care if we go 0-12, it will not stop my support.
The win/loss records of the FB and BB programs is NOT the reason I quit going to the games roughly 10 years ago.

It was the attitude that kept me away.

As long as I see that the people in charge care about the direction im good to go.

My support is not based on wins and loses, its based on taking pride in your university.
I realize that UL does not have the ability to compete year to year with SEC or BIG 12 schools. Just show me that you care about your athletics as much as Troy or Western Kentucky.

Even the most loyal UL fan cannot dispute the fact that not all of UL's problems in the past 10 years were due to money.

This program was run very poorly to say the least.

When you have 1 person selling tickets in the ticket booth for a home game against your biggest rival and you cant even get your seat to the game till halftime when the stadium is only half full is a disgrace.

When you go to a game and they dont even have the chalk on the field thats a disgrace.

You do bring up a good point about some of the things that were going on in the background at the time of my 1st post post that I was not aware of at the time.

That is my oversight and lack of not knowledge in not knowing that the ball was rolling in the last few years to get the program back on track.

I will not be the 1st, 2nd, or 10th, or 599th person on this forum bashing the football team the 1st time they have a 4 game losing streak.

I look at the big picture.

I saw the big picture the other night.
I finally saw that fire to succeed as program on display that I have been looking for since I have been around USL since 1988.

You could not find a bigger supporter of USL from 88 to 2000 then me.
I would plan my entire week around Cajuns athletics. I would plan vacations around big road games, and I cant wait to do it again.

    Fight on Cajuns!
