Thread: Latest Bowl Projections

With the current setup, UCLA is ahead of the Cajuns for any openings. (Have to wonder if UCLA wants to play in a minor bowl for less coin given that the school would lose money on the trip and could lose to a school from a lesser conference.)

But if a MAC school, say Bowling Green, turns down the EagleBank Bowl or Humanitarian Bowl for money reasons, it would be down to the Cajuns and ULM for the spot.

Crazy way to end the streak, but we shall see if that is possible later today.

I just don't see any MAC team turning down a Bowl Bid. Especially after last year, when NIU came all the way down to Shreveport as a 6-6 team. BOTH NIU and BG are 7-5.

marshall also fired their coach btw, if yall think ULM wont get a bowl because of no coach, do you think the same applies for Marshall?

I have a Question Re: Latest Bowl Projections

We want Texas to win? I thought it would be the other way around...

That leaves the Cajuns fighting for whatever is left, likely Little Caesars, EagleBank or Humanitarian. But Hawaii, Nebraska and Army must lose and Boise State must get a BCS bowl berth for that to be possible, otherwise Boise is likely in Mobile against probably Central Michigan. (The GMAC Bowl wants a showdown between the MAC and Sun Belt champs with Notre Dame staying home.).

You would think that the Cajuns would have a regional advantage over Marshall in Mobile, but Marshall would have the edge regionally for any bowls in the north or northeast. But my gut feeling is that Detroit will be the last opening and the best shot for the Cajuns after UCLA goes to Boise or DC, likely Boise due to proximity. That's why you need Marshall to stay in DC with an Army loss.

In the end it really it comes down to what the bowl selection committees want.

The Cajuns face steep odds to get in - yet it could happen if certain things fall into place and the numbers work in their favor.

Since Army-Navy isn't until next weekend, does that mean we have to wait till next weekend to know how the whole bowl picture will shake out? Or will we have a pretty good idea today? And am I the only one who thinks it's insane that any MAC team would turn down ANY bid to ANY bowl, no matter how expensive? Isn't that the reason you play the season? So doesn't that mean we're doomed anyway???

We want Nebraska to win. Texas Bowl will be open if Nebraska wins and gets another BCS spot, as Texas will also get a BCS spot. That leaves the 8th bowl open for the big 12 wide open. Thats the Texas Bowl. In Houston. Best shot for a really regional bowl.

Since it appears that we are still in the hunt, the question now is, are we practicing just in case we get in?

I don't see how Texas/Nebraska really matters. If the Big 12 gets two BCS spots, that just kicks someone else out (Boise St.?).

For us to make a bowl, there has to be a spot available. Nebraska over Texas doesn't create a spot, if just shuffles some around.

    We need:
    Navy over Army
    Wisconsin over Hawaii
MAC team to turn down a bowl invite

    Otherwise, I seriously doubt it.

The value for UL being in a bowl game is pricelsss for its overall image.

Let's offer "the" MAC school $100G to stay home.

Now they have to decide between a profit and a loss.

We could use all that money everybody thinks we have for buying out coaches' contracts. I like it!!!

I do not think the New Orleans Bowl can take a 6-6 SBC team when a 7-win team is available.

But that WOULD be best for the conference.

There will be precious little time to sell tickets to New Orleans, and several other bowls.

Do the Cajuns have a marketing plan in place ? Each bowl requires a marketing plan before distributing a bid (at least for teams on "our" level).

Hope the Cajuns make it !
