It also helps to have DL who can actually pass rush the QB especially without the assistance of the blitz which then creates mismatches in the secondary. If these guys can improve this offseason, we could be very solid next year with the best returning secondary in the SBC and possibly the best LB's as well. They have the size but they need to provide the ferocious pass rush and run stopping ability that all good defenses have.

I also look forward to seeing Robert play and appreciate what he has done this year in getting himself ready to play next year. However, he hasn't played one down on the collegiate level as of right now so I think that any lofty expectations should be tempered until he hits the field. _
Our DL is probably the worst in the SBC. Our OL is middle of the pack at best. Levi Brown had all day to throw while our QB's were running for their lives. If Brown played for us he would probably be no better than Masson.

How much improvement can we hope for? Is Richardson going to be good just because he is a senior? Will our rotation of DT's get a better push just because they are one year older? We have been bad on the DL for over 15 years, so I don't think the offseason will help much.

Agree with you on Walker. We will know what we have after 3 or 4 games. RB's either have vision or they don't. Lets hope has it!

Would anyone else liked to have seen us NOT rotate our d-line as much?? I understand keeping the guys fresh and all, but i would rather our best players in the game as much as possible, like dean, hall, and richardson. Keep them in the game until they need a breather, get them a break for a couple of plays, then throw them back in there. I would just rather have our first stringers in on 3rd and short rather than the back ups. Not trying to take away from lanaux and gaddies, because they both played well this season, but there is a reason why the other guys started every game.

You are talking about a guy who is currently second in the nation in total offense per game. He has won too many player of the week awards in the SBC to count. His QB rating last year was around 125 and will be up there again this year.

He doesn't make many mistakes. At 6'4" with a good arm and good decision making skills I fully expect to see him on an NFL roster next year.

Point is Brown is a very talented quarterback. It isn't just because of his offensive line.

You are absolutely correct about Brown. But besides the talent, he is also the LEADER of the team.

There are many on this board who confuse statistics with effectiveness. At the QB position, numbers are NOT the whole picture. Masson throws a pretty pass, he completes a good percentage of them, for a respectable number of yards. What he does NOT do well is elevate the play of his teammates.

McGuire does. Anyone who watched the body language of the rest of the players when McGuire was playing vs when Masson was playing saw that.

The jury is still out on Gauthier as a leader. As an athlete, he is no doubt the best of the three.

If I had to choose today, Brad would start for me, but both of the others would see significant time.

As to the criticisms of the DL, our coaching scheme does not give them a chance to be productive.

If we get him, wait till the Deuce breaks loose!!!! As I watched the CHS REDEMT game I wondered which QB was better----Bullock I guess is going to Tulane but I would still be after him!!!!

Big things were expected this season from freshman DL Brandon McCray. He ended up getting hurt and redshirted. I expect him to be a factor in 2010.

No QB's are good when they have 2 seconds to throw. Our OL was getting manhandled and our DL was applying minimal pressure. Brown would not be as big of a Pro prospect if he played for us because we do not have the personel to showcase his talent.
