Under the "not this year" catagory I find it ironic that both ND and UCLA have declined bowls in the not to distant past.

Why couln't it be this year.

Do you really want to get into a bowl that way? While I would love nothing better than for the team to make a bowl game, I don't think they deserve it. In fact, no team with just 6 wins should get in. There are entirely too many bowl games and too many average teams making it to post season. I am sick of the politically correct, everybody gets a trophy mentality that our society has gone to. I also don't think our win against Southern should count towards bowl consideration. No slight against Southern, but they are a DII school.

I know what the rules are, and under the rules, we are eligible, but no team should get in unless they have a winning record.

Do you think LSU will turn in that national championship with Two losses because they did not deserve it. I will take it any way we can get it. I'm not saying they did not deserve. Alot of wierd things had to happen for them.

Yeah I don't want to sneak into a bowl through the back door. That's like rewarding your kid for making a C. We should have just beat FIU and then we'd have 7 wins and things would be a bit more upbeat around here.

Until we get a true playoff system then I have no problem with going to a bowl at 6-6.

Keep in mind that one of the biggest things you have going for you with a bowl apperance is an extra month of practice time. That is huge. Especially for your young guys coming up in the system.

This school simply must get its feet wet in a bowl game.

It does not matter how it happens there is no way UL can allow Pride & Prejudice to stand in the way. If we ever get to the point of a UCLA or a Notre Dame then we can afford to say "not this year."

Notre Dame players voting today on whether they want to play in a bowl, per ESPN.

We will not get a bowl invite this year. But, if we did, even at 6-6, you are "deserving". If you meet the NCAA criteria and the bowl selection committee criteria, then you "deserve" the invite. Of course you'd rather bust into the bowl scenario with a 10-2 record and be jaw flapping about it. But, there are 1000 reasons we would gladly take any and every bowl appearance that we possibly could.

You can get a diploma for an A average and you can get one with a C average. I haven't seen too many people that turned one down because they had a C average. If one of those people is advocating we don't "deserve" any bowl offer that we qualify for, by NCAA rules, then I want to accompany them at their diploma revoking meeting at UL. I'll help them talk UL into taking the "C average" diploma back... because if they're that foolish... they "deserve" it.

I agree that we are "deserving" under the NCAA rules, and if we get an invite, we should take it. I never said otherwise. My point is simply that mediocrity should not be rewarded.

I agree 100%. Way too many bowls and we definitely don't deserve one.
