Then for Marshall, Notre Dame and UCLA to turn down bowl invites, which probably wont but could happen with coaching changes at Marshall and ND. That would leave two openings. Or just ND and UCLA turn down bowls, leaving one spot for the Cajuns or ULM.

Or for the GMAC Bowl to simply pick the Cajuns.

Is it possible that Troy would take an invite to play in its home state of Alabama if the GMAC Bowl would invite them and open up the New Orleans Bowl. In this case I would think UL stands a good chance of an invite to New Orleans esp. after what Shreveport did to us last year.

If you remember from last year, the New Orleans Bowl cannot let Troy opt out and then take a 6 win Sun Belt team. They would have an at-large spot then open and would have to take a 7 win at large team before taking us.

I fear that UL playing for a 7th win and possible bowl invite, yet having only 12,000 in attendance, would not be as attractive a bowl candidate with 6 wins because of the likelihood of poor attendance, by (1) UL's poor following and (2) non-recognition by the local fans.
