Thread: "RED SATURDAY"

  1. Default "RED SATURDAY"

The only thing hotter than Black Friday sales will be Red Saturday deals at Cajun Field.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns announced that all kids under 12 years of age wearing red to this Saturday's showdown with Troy (8-3) will be admitted into Cajun Field free of charge.

UL will need plenty of fan support as the team looks to topple the Trojans - 7-0 in conference play and already crowned Sun Belt Champions.

The game is also Ticket Redemption Night, meaning fans can redeem any unused season tickets in exchange for additional tickets to Saturday's game. Tickets can be redeemed in advance at the Cajundome Box Office (Open Wednesday 10am-12pm and Friday 10am-2pm) or on game day at the Gate C ticket booth (Open Saturday starting at 10am) and all other ticket booths (Open Saturday at 4:30pm).

For the Cajuns (6-5), now bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last five seasons, a win would significantly boost the team's chances of a bowl game. As it stands on Wednesday, 69 teams are currently bowl eligible for 68 openings.

Cajuns fans will have a lot of scoreboard watching prior to Saturday's kickoff, as an additional eight teams can become bowl eligible. It's in the best interest of the Cajuns that the five win teams fail to reach the six-win plateau.

UL received its first good news on Tuesday evening as Ball State picked-up their second win of the season and kept Western Michigan (5-7) out of the bowl picture.

Friday offers two additional key games in the Mid-American Conference as Bowling Green (6-5) faces Toledo (5-6) at 1pm and Kent State (5-6) plays Buffalo, also at 1pm.

Games to Watch on "Red Saturday"
    UConn (5-5) vs. Syracuse (11am)
Wyoming (5-6) at Colorado State (1pm)
    UAB (5-6) vs. UCF (1:30)
    Kansas (5-6) vs. Missouri (2:30pm)
    Hawaii (5-6) vs. Navy (9:30pm)

    Other Important Games
UConn vs. South Florida (7pm - Dec. 5)
    Hawaii vs. Wisconsin (10:30pm - Dec. 5)
    Army (5-6) vs. Navy (1:30pm - Dec. 12)

Toledo and Kent State both lost which is good. However, Wyoming won.

Mac sucks. If most sun belt teams played in the mac, they'd be bowl eligible. Waters and the sun belt is a joke.
    1 tie-in is embarrassing.

Toledo losing hurts UL more than helps. Toledo lost to Bowling Green who is now sitting at 7 wins. We will be competing with 7 win teams not 6.

There projects to be 5 at-large bowl spots open. There are currently 8 teams that still has a chance to get one of those 5 spots. They are UL, ULM, Mid Tenn, Notre Dame, Bowling Green, UCLA, and Northern Illinois. A 10th team from the SEC can also claim an at-large spot if Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina all win this week end and get to 7 wins. Notre Dame or an at-large SEC team will be tough to beat out. Also Mid Tenn will finish 2nd in conference and may end up with 9 wins so they will also be tough to beat out. In order of importance for UL to get a bowl berth:

    1. UL must beat Troy
    2. UConn lose their last 2 to Syracuse and South Florida
    3. Texas to lose the Big XII championship game against Nebraska
    4. Boise St. to go undefeated while Hawaii lose either of their last 2 games to Navy or Wisconsin
    5. Wyoming lose to Colorado St.
    6. Notre Dame lose to Stanford
    7. UCLA lose to USC
    8. Either Tennessee, Georgia, or South Carloina lose
    9. ULM to beat out Mid Tenn. This will give the SBC 4 bowl eligible teams and we may beat out Mid Tenn in this case.
