One of them is Texas who will probably play in the BCS NC game so that means they need 9 bowl eligible teams to fill their 8 slots. If Kansas loses, the Big 12 slot in the Texas Bowl is open.

Connecticut is another one. If they lose their last two games, then the Big East only has 5 teams to fill their 6 slots. The last one is the St. Petersburg Bowl, where we have a contingency tie-in.

Hawaii is another one. If Boise State finishes undefeated and gets an At-large BCS spot, then the WAC only has 3 teams to fill their 4 slots.

Bottom line is that some of the 5 win teams only have to get to 6 wins if their conference has a tie-in. So by them not making it to 6 wins, it opens up possible bowl slots. That's the snowball's chance in hell that I was talking about. _
Dont forget about Duke. With a loss by Duke to Wake, the ACC has 2 open slots in GMAC and Eaglebank Bowls.

Duke is officially out. Their win over North Carolina Central does not count because NCC is only a provisional member of FCS, not a full member. That means they only have 4 wins that count towards bowl eligibility and they can only get to 5. So they are out.

The ACC only has one open slot in the GMAC because the EagleBank Bowl has a contingency agreement with the MAC. The MAC only has 3 tie-ins but they already have 4 bowl eligible teams (Central Michigan 9-2, Temple 9-2, Ohio 8-3, Northern Illinois 7-4) so the Eaglebank slot will be filled by a MAC team.

That's a good point. The PAC 10 has six bowl slots with 7 bowl eligible teams so their bowls are covered, plus one will be left out in the cold unless they get to 7 wins. So yes, if Arizona loses out, they will be 6-6 as well. I do think it's more likely that UCLA will lose to USC, rather than Arizona lose to both Arizona State and USC. But at least that gives us another one to watch.

    Good catch Tuff!

ESPN shows em as not eliminated from bowl competition. Richmond was a loss. They have only one win against a non BCS team. I think it counts. Everything Ive seen has em still eligible.

Makes sense about the Eaglebank bowl. So all we have to worry about is the GMAC Bowl.

    Kentucky to beat Tennessee (6-5)
    USC to beat UCLA (6-5)
    Tulane to beat SMU (6-5)
Middle Tenn to beat ULM (6-5)
Stanford to beat Notre Dame (6-5) Not sure if Notre Dame has to be 7-5 or 6-6 for tie-ins

Five Win Teams that we want to LOSE
    Missouri to beat Kansas (5-6)
    Syracuse to beat Connecticut (5-5)
    UCF to beat UAB (5-6)

But we obviously need to beat Troy first. As you can see, we have a lot to watch this weekend. Have fun!!!!!!!!! _
so far its looking pretty good

    Tuesday:Ball State 22 West Michigan 17
Thursday: Texas 49 Texas AM 39 (aTm finishes 8th in their conference idk if they will get a bowl bid or not so we shall see)
Friday: Wyoming 17 Colorado St. 16 (this could be good for us for a not so impressive W)
    Buffalo 9 Kent St 6
Bowling Green 38 Toledo 24 (Bowling Green is impressive, beat Troy and so will we)
Toledo was 5-6 so it kept them below 6. this is good

List of bowl games the sunbelt can hopefully hear from and their scenarios

    Troy:
New Orleans Bowl: Our fan base favors this bowl If Troy and Middle Tenn accept bids to more attractive bowls
Papajohns.com: If we beat Troy either them or Midd Tenn can get this bowl considering what Tennesee and South Carolina do
Little Ceasar's: Might not be enough Big 10 teams to fill this spot and Boise St. might get a BCS bid could open for Troy/Middle Tenn depending on tomorrow
GMAC: could see either troy or Middle Tenn here

    Middle Tenn:
GMAC: could see either troy or Middle Tenn here
Little Ceasar's: Might not be enough Big 10 teams to fill this spot and Boise St. might get a BCS bid could open for Troy/Middle Tenn depending on tomorrow
Papajohns.com: If we beat Troy either them or Midd Tenn can get this bowl considering what Tennesee and South Carolina do
St. Petersburg: Either Central Florida or Middle Tenn will get this

    UL:
New Orleans Bowl: Our fan base favors this bowl If Troy and Middle Tenn accept bids to more attractive bowls
Eagle bank: if Army loses and Notre Dame doesnt get a bid (firing of Charlie Weiss, losing games)

As long as ND finishes with 6 wins or more, they will be in a bowl game, PERIOD.
