    Default Cajuns New Best Friends

The way I see it, here is a list of the teams we should be pulling for this week.

Six Win Teams that we want to LOSE
    Kentucky to beat Tennessee (6-5)
    USC to beat UCLA (6-5)
Toledo to beat Bowling Green (6-5)
    Tulane to beat SMU (6-5)
Middle Tenn to beat ULM (6-5)
Stanford to beat Notre Dame (6-5) Not sure if Notre Dame has to be 7-5 or 6-6 for tie-ins

Five Win Teams that we want to LOSE
    Missouri to beat Kansas (5-6)
    Syracuse to beat Connecticut (5-5)
Buffalo to beat Kent State (5-6)
Ball State to beat Western Michigan (5-6)
    UCF to beat UAB (5-6)
Colorado State to beat Wyoming (5-6)
    Navy to beat Hawaii (5-6)

But we obviously need to beat Troy first. As you can see, we have a lot to watch this weekend. Have fun!!!!!!!!!

Don't have to worry about the 5 win teams. If we don't beat Troy, we don't go to a bowl game period. If we beat Troy, we are 7-5 and are required to be chosen above any 6 win team.

Doable - Kentucky to beat Tennessee (6-5)
Almost a certainty - USC to beat UCLA (6-5)
Doable - Toledo to beat Bowling Green (6-5)
Need some breaks - Tulane to beat SMU (6-5)
Doable - Middle Tenn to beat ULM (6-5)
I sure hope so, but ND has more at stake - Stanford to beat Notre Dame (6-5) Not sure if Notre Dame has to be 7-5 or 6-6 for tie-ins

I wonder how many "Hope they lose" threads we are listed on?

Shouldn't we be pulling for ULM to beat MTSU? If they beat them and we win, then we are still ahead of them. But if MTSU beats ULM then they have a better record than us and will more than likely get into a bowl (the NO Bowl) before us.

No, we should not. MT has an outside shot at the Texas Bowl against Navy. They have a better record then us now at 8-3, but I sure don't want ULM to have 7 wins nor a better conference record.

MT has a better record regardless. 7 wins is what matters. Not the particular order in the belt. Please beat troy! Please?

Actually, the more that I have looked at it, we would have a snowballs chance in hell of making it with a 6-6 record. But, literally everything on that list would have to happen for us to have that chance.

But beating Troy gives us a pretty good chance of making it. And to the person who questioned whether we want ULM to win. The answer to that is HEEEELLLLLLL NOOOOOO!!
We want to have the least amount of 7 win teams available as possible. MT already has 8 and will probably be in a bowl game, even if they lose.

Also, at least one of the 5 win games (Kansas) would leave an open bowl slot. The Big 12 has 8 tie-ins this year and 8 bowl eligible teams. One of them is Texas who will probably play in the BCS NC game so that means they need 9 bowl eligible teams to fill their 8 slots. If Kansas loses, the Big 12 slot in the Texas Bowl is open.

Connecticut is another one. If they lose their last two games, then the Big East only has 5 teams to fill their 6 slots. The last one is the St. Petersburg Bowl, where we have a contingency tie-in.

Hawaii is another one. If Boise State finishes undefeated and gets an At-large BCS spot, then the WAC only has 3 teams to fill their 4 slots.

Bottom line is that some of the 5 win teams only have to get to 6 wins if their conference has a tie-in. So by them not making it to 6 wins, it opens up possible bowl slots. That's the snowball's chance in hell that I was talking about.

    One correction.

Tennessee is already pretty much in at the SEC#9 slot. The only way they won't be in is if the SEC does NOT have a team in the BCS NC game, which is highly unlikely.

But feel free to pull against them anyway.

I edited this to add location, because in college home field plays a huge part.

Six Win Teams that we want to LOSE
Kentucky to beat Tennessee (6-5) @ Kentucky I think Tenn is in regardless
USC to beat UCLA (6-5) @ USC (USC looking to get back to business)
Toledo to beat Bowling Green (6-5) @ Bowling Green (Bowling green has won 5 of last 6, toledo has lost 3 of last 4, gonna be very difficult for Toledo to win)
Tulane to beat SMU (6-5) @ SMU (Tulane sucks and SMU has won 3 of last 4, gonna be very difficult)
Middle Tenn to beat ULM (6-5) @ ULM (Middle is just flat out better than ULM, tough game for ULM in final season, atleast the top tier SBC team we're playing has nothing to gain, MT wants to look as attractive as possible for an at large bid)
Stanford to beat Notre Dame (6-5) @ Stanford (Stanford playing some good football, Notre Dame not so much, I feel good in this one)

I'll also add another one in there from the Pac 10, We need Arizona State to beat Arizona If that happens then that puts Zona at 6-5 and having to beat USC on the road to get to 7-5, this could give us yet another team to leap frog if they happen to get in the "at large" pool.

Dont forget about Duke. With a loss by Duke to Wake, the ACC has 2 open slots in GMAC and Eaglebank Bowls.

Duke is officially out. Their win over North Carolina Central does not count because NCC is only a provisional member of FCS, not a full member. That means they only have 4 wins that count towards bowl eligibility and they can only get to 5. So they are out.

The ACC only has one open slot in the GMAC because the EagleBank Bowl has a contingency agreement with the MAC. The MAC only has 3 tie-ins but they already have 4 bowl eligible teams (Central Michigan 9-2, Temple 9-2, Ohio 8-3, Northern Illinois 7-4) so the Eaglebank slot will be filled by a MAC team.
