That is not Evan's fault; HE didn't hire his replacement. Don't change your tune now. You asserted that he left the cupboard bare. That was not the case. Where or if Evans is coaching now is an entirely different proposition.

No change here. It sounds like you feel three players make a program. I don't.

I totally agree with your point about the importance of making a good hire. It appears Walker agreed with you that there was enough left behind to elevate a novice like General Lee into the hot seat.

Looks like a lot of folks were wrong.

That would be Nelson not David Walker.

UH, Jesse Evans WAS coaching at San Francisco after he left here. After 3-4 seasons, he declared himself taking an odd leave of absence from the school for close to one month in the middle of the season with no reason why which seriously ticked off administrators and donors. I don't know what came about with that but the university fired him when they could get no answers from him. So what does he do, he sues the university saying they owe him the money left on his contract without giving his employer any reason for his departure or for how long he was planning to be gone. They ended up bringing in the hall of famer Eddie Sutton and i don't know if he's still there are not but that is NOT the guy I'd want running my program. What a mess. We need to forget Evans and even more so, forget Lee and move on and build a winner again.

Coach Hall might come back, but like football, we need to pay for a good coach. The grass isn't always greener at a BCS school. However, last time I looked, we are still in the SBC, so that is never attractive. _
The loss to Southern might not be such a bad loss. I 've done a little research and found that they are 3-0 with wins over Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana. They may be the best women's team in Louisiana outside of LSU. They are favored to win their conference this year.

Who says that a move to San Francisco was a step up for Evans? The records for the Dons prior to his arrival are as follows:

    1997-98 19-11
    1998-99 12-18
    1999-00 19-9
    2000-01 12-18
    2001-02 13-15
    2002-03 15-14
    2003-04 17-14

    When he arrived in SF the records were;

    2004-05 17-14
    2004-05 11-17
    2005-06 13-18

And then came the season that Evans dissappeared mid-season for personal reasons. The team was 4-4 with wins over power houses East-Central, Sacramento State, Utah Valley State, and Boise.

After Evans departed the teams was 6-11 under Sutton with victories over fine teams like Pepperdine (2), and Loyola-Marymount. They played Gonzaga twice that year and lost the first time by over 30 points, but improved toward the end of the season to lose to the Zags by only 5.

I was never a big Evans fan, but I would take him back right now in a heart-beat. I'd also take Hall back to coach the men or women.

It's time that we stop thinking that Evans got a promotion. He may have gotten more money, but I bet the Cajuns could have taken the Dons on the hardwood.

Sutton was replaced by Rex Walters in 2008-09.
