ok so there are 34 bowls, 4 which have a contract with sunbelt teams
there are 68 football teams that will be invited
so far there are 69 Bowl eligible teams (including UL Cajuns)
there are 10 teams that are one win shy of becoming bowl eligible of those i think 4 will become bowl eligible (UConn, W. Mich, Wyoming, Kent St. maybe Kansas)
that makes a total of 74 possible bowl eligible teams
the eligible candidates who will be on bubble and may get the shaft are:
FSU, Iowa St., Texas AM, Minnesota, South Carolina, Marshall, UCLA, ULM, UL
who do we want to lose to even give us a chance. i know one for sure
Troy!!! but who else can possibly bump us into a bowl spot
id say Texas AM and Iowa St. (they both lost to Kansas St. and also that would clear a spot in Eagle Bank bowl or Little Ceasar's bowl)
Us beating ULM helps big in gaining a bowl before they consider them.
South Carolina losing would help us possibly with the Papajohns.com bowl
even a Marshall loss would make a team bowl eligible but would help us
so Goal #1 is definately accomplished by getting bowl eligible.
Now lets beat troy and make a Bowl game appearance more of a possibility
pray atleast 2 or more of these teams lose and get ignored
Conference USA
Marshall 6-5 vs. UTEP (upset Alert!!! UTEP has lost last 5 games by less than a TD and finally coming home after 3 games on road, they'll be hungry for a final win on the season)
UAB 5-6 vs. UCF 7-4
SMU 6-5vs. Tulane
Big 12
Texas AM 6-5 vs. Texas 11-0
Iowa St 6-6 loss 3 of last 4 (its how you finish )
Kansas 5-6 vs. Missouri (win could help but only 1-6 in conference right now)
MAC
Kent St. 5-6 vs. Buffalo
W Mich 5-6 vs. Ball St.
Toledo 5-6 vs. Bowling Green 6-5 (Toledo lost last 3 of 4 games and Bowling green is no slouch)
Sun Belt
Troy 8-3 vs. UL 6-5 (if we beat Troy i know it would be a sure spot in a bowl)
ULM 6-5 vs. MT 8-3 ( another loss for ULM would also help in our case)
ladies and gentlemen, it is about to get fun
