Microsoft Research established the Graduate Women’s Scholarship in the hopes to increase the female presence in the information technology (IT) industry. These scholarships offer support to women in their second year of graduate studies. The scholarships include a $15,000 stipend, along with a $2,000 bonus to allow for conference and travel arrangements. The money offered by these scholarships also helps women gain visibility within their departments, help get them mentorship opportunities, and cover other graduate program expenses.
