The Knoxville Ice Bears picked up their first win on the road by defeating the Louisiana IceGators 5-2 on Wednesday night.

The Ice Bears controlled this game from start to finish and, by doing so, improved their overall record to 4-4.

Forward Donald Melnyk regained his scoring touch by firing in the Ice Bears first two goals and also tacked on an assist.

Melnyk's stellar performance earned him the First Star of the Game honors. Goalie Dan Earles recorded another win with an impressive 27 save game.
