Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf coach Theo Sliman announced on Tuesday an addition to his team for the 2010-11 season. Tyler Ledet, a native of Woodworth, La., has signed a National Letter of Intent to tee off for the Cajuns next season.
"Tyler is an outstanding young man that comes from a great family," said Sliman. "I have enjoyed getting to know Tyler through the recruiting process and I look forward to having him on this team as he begins his college career. He has had much success on a national level as a junior golfer and will make an immediate impact as well as be a great asset to our program."
A letterwinner from Alexandria Senior High School, Ledet has been a mainstay on junior golf ranks. In 2009 he captured the individual title at the Louisiana High School 4-A State Championships. His two-day total of 143 beat out 55 competitors from around the state.
He also had another impressive year in 2008, recording seven top-10 finishes. That year, he claimed medalist honors at the Southern Tradition Junior Championship in Alexandria, La. He also finished ninth at the United States Golf Association's Boys Junior Amateur Qualifier in Lafayette.
In 2007 as a freshman, he won two events, including the Audubon Trails Junior Championship at the TPC course in New Orleans, La. At the 2007 Louisiana State High School 4-A Regional Tournament, Ledet was able to post a second-place finish and followed it up with a fourth-place finish at the 2007 Louisiana High School 4-A State Championships.
Sliman and the UL golf team will return action on Feb. 15 as they look to start the 2010 spring season at the Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
