I'm not saying that ANY of them are completely fair or balanced. Every anchor on every network has a slant, and every network trends towards having two opposing views yell at each other for an hour, the "winner" usually determined by what network they're on. It's the "PTI format" and it's what sells and gets ratings. CNN is usually just less outlandish in their agendas, and generally of the three do their best to present at least some semblance of "both sides." Where CNN loses me is when they go overkill on something, prime example being Malaysian Flight 370. Long after other networks had moved on to other things, CNN was still doing "cockpit simulations" and leaving no stone unturned or inane detail undiscussed, and it ultimately resulted in nothing. That kind of thing is why the only reason I'll flip over to a news network is for election coverage, or when a major event happens. I spend just about 0% of my average day watching cable news.

The sad truth of all this is the one source of news that's most capable of being honest and taking both sides to the mat is The Daily Show on Comedy Central. They obviously lean left, but they don't hesitate to call out the Democratic party when it's called for. They're a comedy show first, but that they can come so close to being the most objective look at the events that shape our world is either a statement on how great they are at satire, or a statement on the sad state of affairs that are our interest-driven cable news networks/political arena. Maybe both.

Okay, well we can agree to disagree. Sadly, many college age students and slightly older get their news from the Daily Show, its one of the reasons we have one of the most uninformed electorate at any time in recent history. Funny yes, informative no.

I think the cable news channels are more responsible for a misinformed electorate...than the Daily Show. The Cable News Networks are getting paid to lie to people...The Daily Show is making a joke of them...and by way of doing that are prolly informing their viewing audience a bit better than the actual news.

Is pure propaganda bathed in humor any worse than just plain old propaganda?

No, that's why a little fact checking by unbiased parties doesn't hurt. But you will not get that from either source.
