UL — Chris Fisher has no illusions about what lies ahead for him and his University of Louisiana at teammates the next three weeks.
If UL wants to claim a Sun Belt Conference title or appear in a postseason bowl for the first time in 39 years, the Cajuns must successfully run a triple gauntlet against the league’s current leaders, said Fisher, a senior center.
“That sounds awesome to me. If you have three games left, you just as soon go up there and beat the best three,” said Fisher.
UL (5-4, 3-2) is in third place behind first-place Troy (7-2, 6-0) and Middle Tennessee (6-3, 4-1) and Louisiana-Monroe (5-4, 4-1) which are tied for second.
The Cajuns play at Middle Tennessee at 3:15 p.m. Saturday. UL then closes out the season at Cajun Field against ULM and Troy.
Fisher said he relishes the thought of playing the teams ahead of the Cajuns in the SBC standings.
