I know some don't want to hear this, but I do have to hand it to Bustle's staff for not simply sticking with the script in the ASU game... and hopefully not from this point forward. There were reasons to believe we could throw down with the rest of the SBC when we started this season. For whatever reason, it vanished during the FAU / FIU stretch. In no way does the team stink. We simply aren't exceptionally talented enough not to require some creative coaching.

I'm not sure if it was Bustle that "originated" this decision... like experimenting with Miller in the backfield... but beyond it being somewhat sensible (including a speedy skill player "almost" built well enough to be in the backfield) and somewhat hard for the opponent to prepare for... it adds a psychological bump to the team.

Sometimes, it is as important not to stick to the script for mental benefits as it is for some perceived functional benefit. I think it did both. JMO

    Correct.

The wide receiver motion/zone read run is a good, albeit high-risk play. I think we fumbled once on it, and bumped into each other another time, but still scored. I also like the delayed shovel pass (which didn't work, but would have gained alot had he caught it).

Dasher, like most Sun Belt QB's, can be a really bad quarterback. I saw it when Troy played them. We saw it happen with Leonard last week. If we can play on defense like we have 5 other times this season, then we can win.

When watching the game last saturday, I was only able to begin watching in the second half and was unimpressed. However, watching the replay the other night from the beginning showed me a lot more. This team came out "attacking" on both sides of the ball which I hadn't seen once this season. We were taking shots down the field and allowing Masson to get into a rhythm passing the ball. We used our skill guys well and Marlin Miller and Rico Joseph really showed that we have some quickness on this team. On defense, we actually got after the QB with creative blitz packages and the DL finally played like many of us thought they could. The first half showed the team we had all been waiting to see. The second half, while playing with a lead, we reverted back to good ole clock crunching and dive running and that just doesn't work well with this offense this year. We simply aren't talented enough or physical enough to play like that this year. I was proud of this team for hanging in there and really proud of Lance Kelley for that phenomenal pick. I look forward to watching them play this weekend and thankful to not have to poison my eyes for at least another week about how we need to fire everybody associated with the university and burn Martin Hall et al...
