Ladies' "Louisiana" uniforms are the best

It's exhausting... Every thread has some rant about names.

I know I'm in the minority here, but it doesn't bother me. UL, ULL, Louisiana... I care more about the team performing well and winning, than about some 8th string broadcaster on ESPN3 not calling us "Louisiana".

Winning and calling us Louisiana are not mutually exclusive. People have always said win and they will call us Louisiana. Wrong. Win and we get just get more recognition and entrenched as as Louisiana-Lafayette. Most teams use their moniker for home games and school name for away games, i.e. Ragin Cajuns at home and Louisiana on the road. We seem to be using Ragin Cajuns on just about everything now. We dropped the 's on Louisiana a couple of years ago and went from Louisiana's to Louisiana. Jay is probably the most vocal in calling us Louisiana. But even his company's website still uses Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns just about everywhere. UL-L, ULL, U LA LA, U Laf, U La Laf, Louisiana-Lafayette, UL Lafayette, and an occasional Louisiana are all used out there. Just what will it take for our administration to officially brand athletics as LOUISIANA like they said two years ago and quit _____footing with our name? We are our own worse enemy, exemplified when UL Marketing came out with the UL-L fiasco. WINNING should be associated with LOUISIANA, period. Anything less than that is a disservice to our students, alumni and fans. But, until our university "gets it" and develops a clear policy on use of LOUISIANA, it will sadly continue to be an on-going identity issue for us.

The University first requested that the nickname be gender neutral back in 2000. Mike and Stef most definitely supported that, so as to differentiate their program from Yvette's. Since then, all coaches of female teams are on board with the gender neutral nickname. The University, has, in fact, put it in writing.

Reality: Our women's teams don't want to be called Lady Cajuns. Period.

Hell...I was an athlete at UL in 2000 and really don't remember this. Thanks for the heads-up, Jay. I'll cease from using that term. Mike and Stef have been great for our athletic department.

Revisionist history, it wasn't to be gender neutral it was to be racially neutral. That is the reason you never heard of it, it was hush hush.

Stand alone "Cajuns" gear was removed from uniforms and paraphernalia.

All existing marketing money was invested into "Ragin' Cajuns" logos, Peppers, and fonts. The limited scope was only to save money. It was never due to any ban the phrase "Lady Cajuns" effort.

I overheard students at the Cajundome say that we are "ULL" and debated with them that we are "UL". They try to argue that there is a ULM, so therefore we are "ULL". I thought there was a freshman orientation class to get all the students on board?
