    Bummer, but seasons young and so are we. Just need consistent pitching and hitting to sharpen up

    Went exactly as many thought it would early this season - we hit well enough to win but pitching did us in. Our pitching will undoubtedly improve as the season progresses.

    Yea, but this is a young staff, and a young team. Early loses may effect confidence. IMO it is important to get off to a good start.

    If I remember right we lost our first game last year too.

    We also played utsa...not the Yankees. Went about as I expected. Interested to see if our number 2 and 3 arms can match there's.

    Timely hitting hurt us in this game. We were 4-22 with runners on base and 2-11 with runners in scoring position. That's what cost us this game. You gotta hit better than .181 in critical situations.

    But as good as last year's team was, they dropped the first game to EIU. This is still baseball and you can't judge the whole year from one game.

    Not good, not good at all, but it does show potential.

    Still though, 5-runs should win should put you in position to win every game.
